Micah Parsons was under contract. Someone gave up two firsts.

Perfect example of things that don't apply (the contract, the trade value) that work against a PIckens trade lol

Pickens is locked to the Cowboys as much as Parsons was. Neither was going anywhere unless the Cowboys said so.

He did not have a choice regarding playing for Pittsburgh or Dallas. The Cowboys have already stepped up to make CeeDee feel “wanted and appreciated”. Lord knows they made Dak feel that way.

They franchise tagged Pickens. That’s not wanted and appreciated. The Steelers are a better team on the field than the Cowboys with and without George Pickens. At this point he has to be wondering how he can get to the Rams, or Niners, or even Ravens. And away from teams like Dallas and Pittsburgh and their somewhat less than bold ownership.

Problem is, contending teams don't pay WRs at the top of the market. Paying them huge is a bad drag on the Cap. When the Eagles won the super bowl, their WR cap hits were 11 and 8 mil. As their cap hits started getting bigger, the team regressed.

I’m not going to deal with hypotheticals. We got him and we can at the very least recoup what we spent, even if it means getting a 2nd. I’m just wishing we sign him long term out trade him. Nope. Teams can't trade for him because then he has all of the contract leverage and the price for an extension goes way up. Players do not get traded in this context, ever.

I don’t know what kind of return Jerry might want but I do question whether it would take $40M. If it were me and I felt Jerry could potentially tag me for 2 years at an average somewhere in the low $30’s, I would definitely consider something less than top dollar.

If I could get something like $35-$37M with the protection of a 3-4 year contract with upfront $’s and a big guarantee vs. a $31M average on a year to year contract, it would be tough for me to turn down.

Like I said, I’d be happy with a 2nd. Good return on the investment. For a 2nd, a team may be willing to pay what he wants, and we don’t even know how much that is that he’s willing to settle for. The problem is, is Jerry willing to let him go for less than two firsts. He should if they can’t reach a reasonable long term deal.

He’s everything you want in a top shelf receiver yet it’s contract and how much going to determine how long he’s in Dallas .

This is a different offense with him if you ship him out going to take a premium draft pick to replace like a 1 or a 2.

Not true. They aren't interested for what it would cost.

You did see how bad this defense was didnt you? Parsons doesn't single handedly change that.

They miss the playoffs with or without him, he wouldn't have changed that
