Are we better off, the same, or worse now?

The 2025 season ended about 4 months ago. After FA and the draft, how does the current roster compare?

The Cowboys are better off because of Dowms and Thompson. We haven’t had good safety play since Woody was here and now we have two good safeties. Gonna make a difference.

Are big 3 receivers are the best the Cowboys havre ever had with Lamb, Pickens, and Flournoy.

On paper, there is zero doubt this team is better. But games aren’t played on paper of course.

It is very hard to just instantly go from a back to back non playoff team to a contender. With our 4th DC in 4 seasons, it will probably take some time to get these players, most of whom are young and/or new to the team, to get United.

Plus we have a rookie DC in Parker who looks like he’s going to be great with loads of potential. He just needs to show it on the field in real games.

I would counter this argument by pointing out the reigning SB Champ Seattle Seahawks missed the playoffs in 2024 & 2025.

If they bring C.J. Goodwin back to fill it out the roster it would be both funny and sad at the same time.

This is meaningless, and I would rather have parker than most DC's with experience at DC.

This is where you have to read the man himself, listen to what he has said etc and evaluate him,
I have and think he is going to be very good this first year ,and will constantly be adjusting things to be better.

Top 15 defense for sure and maybe top 10.
Alot of new players who could be wow, but cant be sure yet, but downs will be the best safety since woodson.
going to new alignments etc,

This defense is about attacking on first and 2nd downs and trying to get other teams in 3rd and long.

To me, they are substantially better than last season. I believe the defense will start the season in the top 18 and by the end of the season will gel to top 12, maybe better if all goes well. Offense will start in top 10 and will end in the top 5. All in, this team can gel to being a much improved team.

PS- I believe they WILL bring in another LB before the season starts.

Brother, I live in Washington state now, and have to clean skoal off of my Cowboys decal on my car, and get ridiculed when I'm decked out in Cowboys gear on Sundays. I went to my first game in 83. I bleed blue and silver. My fandom has never died. I just don't get as riled up about the seasons as much I used too. The last time we were relevant my knees and back still worked. Yea you can't know anything based on press conferences. No fan, including you, has any read on him. What they say doesn't matter.

You don't attack on first and second downs if you want to force 3rd and long. That's the opposite.

I like Parker, think he will be good. But any assumption of that is just blind faith at this point.

Slightly better. I still think it’s an 8 or 9 win team. I don’t think the offense will be as dynamic next season. Pickens and Williams brought new wrinkles to the offense last season that teams weren’t ready for. This year, they’ll be ready for them.

Defense will be much better - overall top 14-20 in yardage/scoring. The run defense will be stout. Still have some concerns with generating a pass rush on passing downs but maybe Parker will get creative in generating pressure. I believe he will have to. The offense will probably show some regression but remain a top 7-10 unit.
