BTB: EZ expected to make a huge 2026 leap

Is that all you got? Snarky negativity?
Your opinion on my comment is irrelevant. It's a little early to say he's going to take a huge step forward from people who haven't seen anything on the field to indicate he would. As fans we typically want it to be true for all players but that is not the case. Anyone who objectively watches football knows players often get hyped up in camp but not all live up-to that hype and were not even in training camp yet.

The Cowboys Need to Unleash Donovan Ezeiruaku

Ezeiruaku is expected to be fully healthy for training camp after undergoing shoulder surgery in January. A full offseason to get his legs under him, bulk up, and watch tape should work wonders for one of the most promising pass rushers of the stacked class of 2025.

In 17 appearances last season (nine starts), the former second-rounder registered 40 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, 12 QB hits, and 2.0 sacks. His technique still needs some tuning up, but he's just 22 years old and, albeit a bit undersized at 6-foot-2 and 242 pounds, he's incredibly strong.

Ezeiruaku posted a whopping 16.5 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss in his final season in college. Expecting that type of production against professionals might not be realistic, but he's got the physical tools and raw power to become a prime headhunter if made a full-time starter.

If he can turn a few of the 12 QB hits into sacks.....he has a chance. Even 6-8 sacks would be a huge improvement from 2.

I haven't been thinking about EZE. If he can increase his pressure rate and Gary keep his end up with our Interior tackles. We'll win more games. Will 10 wins get us in the tournament?

I’d be interested to know how much he weighs coming out of training camp. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players that care will work on their weaknesses and get better each year. Get bigger and stronger in most positions is one of their goals.

Ok Debbie.

Interesting, you asked coz I was just looking at some clips on IG via Google. He's def added some mass.....no ideal how much but .........I found this on X

VERY high hope of Eze this year.

Maing thing people need to remember is Ezeiruaku played much of the season with a torn hip labrum. All fixed now.
I also think if the coverage and pass rush around him had even been 25% better than it was, he would have been able to get home 4-5 more times and close in on that 10 sack number.

That defense was so god awful last year that even the few players with talent looked bad.

Not every player improves. Been hearing about Sam Williams taking the next step for 4 years. I'll see how the kids do in camp before I start anointing anyone.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Sam W. had like 9 sacks somehow? Not that I expect it, probably 1-2 sacks and at least 3-4 infuriating penalties that cost like 1 game.

I knew Harvey Martin was going to be a star.

I knew Micah Parsons was going to be a star

Do you know how I knew? I saw it with my own two eyes. I didn't have to consult a stat sheet, I could tell you what you would find.

There wasn't any "hidden" ability that only intensive film study could find. Those guys were creating chaos. Beginning with their rookie seasons. they were terrorizing QB, forcing fumbles and embarrassing veteran O-linemen.

TV analysts were constantly mentioning their names.

Ezeiruaku was practically invisible his entire rookie season. Old Man Clowney, ten years older, quadrupled his sack numbers and more than matched every other measurement while playing in four less games.

One forced fumble, 20 solo tackles, and two sacks

He "almost " had a sack? That is called a pressure and he had 20 of them in 17 games. He almost got to the QB an average of just a little over one time each game.

I'm willing to give him a pass considering the terrible secondary pass coverage and the lack of productivity from the other side. I think his numbers would have been much higher paired with Parsons.

Having said that, I know he will be an improved player next season. It's really not a high bar.

I believe in him. I just can't say anyone looked really good on defense last season. hopefully, his new teammates will bring out his best and he will have an excellent season.

Sam Williams was healthy. Why did dumb Eberflunk keep Sam Williams on the bench while starting/playing eZe most of the season with a torn hip labrum? Talk about redefining the definition of stupid and favoritism. So glad that loser is out of here.
Lol,
DonEz took the starting position from Williams about a quarter of the way through the season.
For the season DonEz played 603 snaps and recorded a 73 PFF score.
Williams played 475 snaps with a PFF score of 57.
Maybe some of that lack of production was Williams returning from the previous seasons ACL tear but even with the labrum issue it was clear that DonEz was the superior player!
