If you're dealing with the Eagles. I mean, they squeezed a first plus out of Wentz and Bradford, and they got a first for a receiver who was not top 10 at his position last year and is in the back half of his career.

It’s been suggested the Eagles got better just getting rid of Brown. And they get a 1st round draft pick just to do it.

I don't quite buy that line of thinking yet. Smith is a good receiver, but now he's got to be the man and they have to hope that Lemon is more Justin Jefferson than Jalen Reagor. I think they got rid of a distraction, but their receiving corps could take a step back.

Every team has to look to the future. No team can afford every player they’d like to have. What players a team does not retain is every bit as important as players they acquire. Some teams are better at it than others. Perhaps you believe the Eagles are very bad at building their roster. Fine. Opinions vary.

They have players on their roster, like every other NFL team, they would like to sign to extensions. Some they’ll be able to. Some will go to other teams. Moving off $133 million future cap expense very likely means a player they want to keep they’ll be more able to keep. They have some very good players on rookie contracts. Carter, Mitchell, DeJean. These guys are going to want big money. I’ll bet one of the three will end up elsewhere. That’s how this business goes.

Irony is the Cowboys helped the Eagles ease the pain of moving Brown by facilitating their moving up and drafting a wide receiver in the first round before another team could. I don’t believe Lemon will be anywhere near as good as A J Brown. Or if he’ll be any good at all. Last time the Cowboys did that for the Eagles they drafted DeVonta Smith. It’s nice to have friends in your own division willing to help you out.

I realize this, and dont dislike the move for Philly.

I just refuse to spin it into gold. Its a 43 million dollar cap hit and the equivalent of this year's second. Its not a bad move, but i dont think its amazing either.

If Maye gets hurt then yeah top 10 pick. Injuries could happen. But it’s a 2028 pick which means they will have to suck a year from now too.

They had no choice. There was a personal beef between Brown and Hurts. One of them had to go. IMO, Philly is a defense and run the ball team. Hurts is a bus driver. Their OL was bad last year and Barkley had no where to run. I'm pretty sure they are aware and have addressed the problems.
