News: ESPN: Sources: Browns, Rams finalizing Myles Garrett blockbuster trade

Even if they win the SB, I think the Rams overpaid. He is 30, he might have 2 GOOD years left. 3 at the very most as these guys tend to fall off the cliff fast after 30. They gave up a guy who is already pretty good and getting better, who is much much younger and much cheaper plus they gave up a 1, 2 and a 3. Not to mention the massive contract they took on. That's nuts IMO.
Uhh, nope. The whole point is to win the Super Bowl. If the Rams do that then this was all worth it.

I think you've let Jerry brainwash you.

Browns did what was smart for them.
Same as Cowboys did.

Rams and Packers took the approach of adding final piece.
Difference is GB ate the SB cash. LA only will be charged 24M over the next 2 seasons with Rams eating dead cap. Parsons was just under 30M and Dallas ate no dead cap for him.

All fair comments. But remember they added McDuffie & Watson to upgrade the secondary. Now with Garrett & the potential of Donald coming out of retirement to join what was already a very good front. That is a strong offseason for a team that was 5 points short of probably winning the SuperBowl. I completely agree that coaching helps them but don't discount how much Stafford (even with some age on him) stirs that drink as well. About the only place they didn't obviously upgrade was WR & with their track record I wouldn't put it past their 6th round pick being a contributor.

IMO, their fan base should be very excited they are truly doing everything possible to win now.
Yeah the Rams have figured out a formula that works for them, and their fans should be happy. They're certainly running circles around our club.

I was evaluating the Micah v Garrett trade compensation, trying to project the value of the Rams picks, and I realized the Rams are averaging 10 wins a season since McVay took over, even with the 5-12 hangover season.

And Stafford has always been an insanely talented QB. He's not quite what he used to be, but I'm not seeing a drastic fall-off. And considering he's probably the only top QB in the conference, the Rams basically get a playoff spot.

It's a reasonable swap, IMO.

Verse is getting better, but he will almost certainly never be Myles Garrett. Micah Parsons won't even ever be Myles Garrett good.

When a team has a real GM like Sneed, they are usually in "1 or 2 players away" mode.

It makes perfect sense for the Rams but makes zero sense for the Cowboys.....hence the absolute need to trade away Parsons for more bodies

Jerry traded Parsons to rebuild the D. That's a pretty big name.

and for the record, Fowler signed with the Seachickens already.
First, the Parsons deal was far better: Williams, Downs, and $. Second, Jerry did whiff on Crosby, big time. Yeah, that would have taken something, but should have been done.
Last, in deals like these (see GB) all it takes is one wrong injury and the whole trade looks like a bust. You can talk about Micah all you want, but in the end, HE WAS HURT at a key time and didn't help the Cheeseheads. Not to beat a dead horse, but his knee injury wasn't the injury they were concerned about: it was his back. So that's still lurking out there.

I don't think Myles has any health issues but the Lambs had a good rusher, just not an All Pro, so while it's a big step up, it's not like he is replacing a schlub in LA.

haha why?
I'd personally rather have a stalwart of a team that is capable of competing for conference championships/SBs every single year vs going all in for a one and done season.
I just wouldn't ever sell off years of my future to over pay for an aging vet for a chance at a SB. That just seems desperate. I'd much rather run my team for the long run, a long run of winning and competing for championships every single year.

I understand the Jerry hate by the fans, because he hasn't run the team very well IMO. He can't seem to get out of his own way.

All I will say week 15 in LA, if Garrett and Steele are both still healthy and on the field, it will be a long day for Steele and he will need some help. The same if it’s Guyton also.

I do not agree. The draft picks are at the VERY END of each round. That is huge. Clev will probably draft a Mazi or Taco caliber player with that late pick. No doubt Verse is good. But he could still flame out. Big win for the Rams IMO.

I get this mindset because it was the prevailing formula when I was young. I have come to realize that the NFL isn't like that anymore though. Too much parity. IMO, if you are truly a contender, do everything you can to get over the top within your window.

The GM's of a few teams around the league can correctly evaluate where they stand and make impactful moves when they believe the window is open. Unfortunately, ours has been perpetually stuck in the 90's. Often believing in teams that were woefully short on talent & coaching.

Sorry, Browns and smart don't go together. They will blow this, they always do.

an aging vet who just set an all time NFL record?

bluntly speaking you do post like someone content to hang around the rim

How can they first of all they did pay Miles Garrett when he demanded it they tried to keep him on the team but he'd been pushing from behind the scenes but they got another pass rusher that could be the next Miles Garrett He still hasn't peaked versus a very good pass rusher another first round pick plus all the other picks piled together it's basically like getting 3 1st round picks but they already have the player that's replacing the man they traded it's a win for everybody except that it's not Cowboy related and here we are spending 18 pages out of control trying to connect the dots this has nothing to do with the Cowboys or the Parsons trade because the people are trying to do that We all know that Miles Garrett is clearly better clearly he keeps his body in better shape he has a better resume and he's led the league in sacks more than a few times and has two Defensive Player of the Year awards this man is a much better player than Parsons this fact that his drive and his motivation are better..

You add in the fact that the Green Bay Packers had to pay more for Parsons than Garrett has then the trades are almost equal You have to look at the value we haven't even seen what the other draft picks are going to do for us going forward I still don't see how this is related to the Cowboys other than yes the Rams are better and that's how it is...

Call me crazy but Christian Parker is STILL the biggest defensive acquisition in the NFL this offseason.
I agree with you. Brings fresh new ideas and both a scheme and culture change to a unit that has been stuck in a rut for the past three years.
