Both Bland and Overshown has shown flashes of pro bowl potential throughout their young careers. However, they both have really struggled to stay healthy which has lead in a dip in their production:

-Bland had 14 interceptions in a two year span, then he hurt his foot and has struggled since. Last season very inconsistent and was never around the football. Nobody truly knows if he was playing hurt throughout the season as he got his 2nd foot surgery this offseason. The team has an out in his contract after the season if he is healthy.

-Overshown has never played a full season to date. He has suffered two major knee injuries, with the last one being the most severe. When he returned last season, he just wasn't the same player. Granted he was being used more off the ball then attacking, but deserves a mulligan missing so much time. He now enters his contract season, where the team has an Winters now on the roster who has a similar skillset. Like Bland he could be playing somewhere else next season.

If the new staff can help these two return to form, the rebuilding of the defense will happened faster, but they may very well have to replace both players in the near future. Huge season for both!

The defense, if everything goes as well as it could, might make a really big turnaround. I've been predicting it can be ranked in the middle of the pack by the end of the season but it could be even better — and Bland and Overshown returning to form would play a large role in that.

I think both can. Bland wasn't near the football last year, but none of the defensive backs were. Eber-flush's scheme had them playing off so much and Bland's game is press man.

Overshown came back from his injury "cold" with no offseason or training camp. That's why he was barely average when he played last year. With a full year removed from his injury and a normal preparation for the year I am hoping for a return to form.

Not to make excuses for players because the truth is, players who keep getting injured in their early years rarely stop getting injured in the later years of their careers.

I think it comes down to how they are used.

I think if they are put into a position to think less and use their instincts more, it will help reduce the injuries.

Would be nice to have a poll for both. Short answer, there some skepticism with both at the moment until proven otherwise with the gravity of how serious their injuries were.

I just dont think Overshown is very good. He made splash plays in 2025 when he was blitzed by Zimmer, but other than that he was pretty ineffective. He has rather poor instincts.

I completely disagree he's the opposite of what you're describing i'm sorry but he had two separate knee injuries to two separate knees that were very different situations he's not injury prone but that defense was sorry last year him coming off an injury coming into that mess II think you're mis evaluating I say you're under appreciating what he can do when he's actually healthy he's very instinctual I mean you're describing Liafu and it's absolutely the opposite...

Hey you're entitled to your opinion but I watched him at Texas and when he's on the field he makes a big difference here in Dallas apparently you weren't looking And yes it has been very bad the last two seasons where he's been injured but so is the defense has been riddled with injuries inconsistent and weren't very good as far as scheme goes..

It's an unfair valuation it's TBD but the dude does have instincts he's really fast and if utilized properly he can be one of the best weapons we have on this team.

  :oldcouple:

Well he definitely show instincts in 2025 when he was in coverage or playing sideline to sideline. He ran himself out of plays very frequently. You have to watch everything and not just highlights

Generally cant argue, some guys just snake bit with injuries.
But Overshown last injury ....he was standing by a tackle pile, and a guy or 2 came in from the side into his knee....
Gotta keep a head on a swivel ....or just jump on the pile

And watched him his whole career I watched him when he was healthy since he was a rookie and whenever he's on the field he was impactful last year everybody gets a pass because it was garbage and really during the Zimmer era that one little short year he also had to play around garbage when there's that many injuries around you and in front of you and the sides of you it's kind of hard to be judged because you don't know who's out of place and who's not doing what..

Hey you're opinion but I've been watching the guy play he's very instructional and he's an impact player when he's healthy so hopefully Parker will get back right because now he's gonna be first real healthy offseason he said he can work all training camp on scheme and on his body and his mental reps it should be a lot better but he came back from injury and he's got his legs under him he's definitely has instincts apparently you're not giving Mulligan for the chest defenses he's been having to play both scheme and teammates...

Some guys have the talent and drive to be NFL players

But some of those guys do not have the salubrious fitness to be a NFL player.

..good points Reality, I agree. With Parker in the house, and the fact his background forte is DB sector.

Both will benefit. Bland has natural instincts that need to be trusted again. Hopefully Parker will help.

Overshown is in tougher spot, because the amount of contact involved. No escaping there. He CAN benefit from good players around him.

Other than that, its luck of the draw for him. Hoping best for them.

Bland will miss four games
Overshown will miss nine

That’s kind of their trend
