Why disguise and confusion is no problem for Cowboys Dak Prescott

32 QBs. "Top 10" is a pathetic way to associate "Dak" with "top".

Top 10 - included in top 30%. Way too broad for this to be associated with excellence. For example, suppose the drop-off from 3 to 5 is significant? Kinda disingenuous to lump #9 in with #2, right?

I could bang on about this, but you get the point. Dak is hovering around 8-12 on most lists...he's not considered near the top 5. And every year newer, better, younger QBs are going to challenge his "top 10". Point is, that top 10 is a ridiculous measure of ANY QB ...not unless we are talking about all-time, not league-wide.

There are 64+ quarterbacks in the NFL every year. For Dak to have been in the top 10 due to his play every year he's finished the season healthy is pretty good. No Dak isn't elite but you have to be pretty good on the NFL level to be top 10 out of 64+ quarterbacks league wide.

There are 1st and 2nd round drafted quarterbacks that can't say that.

In the regular season I agree ....... he has been borderline great.

In the playoffs ...... this happens ....... and its all over.

He hasn’t been great in the playoffs. Maybe not even good. But it’s hard to pinpoint where the biggest issue is with so many of them. Bad play calling? Yep. Way too many penalties? Most definitely Zeke put at center to end the game? Yessir hahahaha. His inopportune INTs? Sure. And that’s just to name a few.

Daks a good to great qb in the regular season and has been been good, great, mediocre and bad in the playoffs. Has been bad against 49ers and the last GB meeting.

Why Dak is so polarizing to this site I don’t know. There are 6 or 7 guys who post the same talking points about Dak they almost look like bot accounts. How can you claim to be a Cowboy fan but 99 percent of your posts are about Dak? From who he’s marrying to the birth of his kids to mvp discussions….these guys hate Dak but talk about him more than anyone lol. What a time we live in.

Good stuff.

Answer: Because it's easy. Takes pretty much no brain power to be lazy and just say the same thing over and over and over. And as far as the polarized haters/lovers, I'd guess that they get off to what they're saying. I mean, no one ever listens in Dak threads, just the same guys spewing the same stuff. You don't find many good posters in Dak threads because there's no discussion going on, just spew. A few hit and runs, but not much more.

There is zero mystery why Dak Prescott is polarizing on CowboysZone.com. I have been a witness since 2004. This is not a first-time phenomenon. The exact same thing occurred during Tony Romo's time as starting quarterback. In fact, that player's polarization continues to this day here, but to a lesser degree.

Some members like a player. Other members do not. Both parties have a very select number of participants within them, who feel personally motivated in disagreeing with each other, practically and virtually literally every day of the year.

Disagreements create additional comments. Additional comments create more lengthy threads. More lengthy threads birth more of the same in kind. It is a self-perpetuating, self-contained ecosystem that will never dissipate and evaporate on its own. People are both the engine and the fuel that keeps them going.

I get all of this. I was here for the Romo stuff…I don’t remember it being this bad but it was a long time ago so I’ll concede I’m probably more biased here because of recency bias.

But this goes deeper than just like and dislike. Because for a player I dislike I can’t spend too much time or energy on them. For instance couldn’t stand Diggs the last two years to the point I would avoid threads on him. It bothered me even discussing him.

Granted the QB position will always be polarizing because it’s the QB position and the Cowboys have had a rich history of guys like Aikman and Staubach . But these unhealthy conversations over and over again on Dak need to be studied. There are literally posters here who say their whole existence is to be anti Dak. But they claim to be Cowboy fans. That sounds like exclusively a Dak fan to me lol.

Yeah as a contributor like you said there’s listening. I use to jump in them and got caught up myself but man lover or hater when you take a step back and look at the talking points….its nuts lol.

GIN...you are too smart to try to do this. In order to make your guy seem elite you expand the field? Lies, damned lies and statistics. The other 32 are backup journeyman...most of whom are easily discarded. We are talking about starters. Some teams keep 3 QBs...should we expand the field even more?

Again, you say you are not a Dak apologist but the mental books you keep and the numbers you track give them cover. Dak is a mid QB...no matter how you slice it. Is Dak better than Caleb Williams? I dunno...the point is that it is a debate and Williams just got here 2 years ago and a had a horrible year 1!!! Give him 10 more years and tons of investment and then let's talk. Heck, we can talk right now...as he took a MIDDLING BEARS TEAM and put them on the doors of the championship game.

At no time in Dak's 10 year tenure has he had one year like Caleb. Caleb's regular season and post season performances MATCHED. He was clutch in the regular season - whipped Dak's lame *** - and then was clutch in the postseason. Dak has NEVER DONE THIS. Here's my list:

Google has Dak at #9 with this line: A consistent producer who consistently racks up massive yardage and commands the pocket with elite accuracy.

But according to your logic, we can't give Dak credit for "elite accuracy". We have to CONSIDER THE TEAM AROUND HIM, right? Just like with the defense you malign, Dak has 2 all pro WRs. So...you know...I say we debit Dak the "accuracy" and credit that to the incredible catch radius of Pickens and Lamb. See how easy that is?
