I’m not the biggest Dak fan but I have no problem with this statement. It’s true that he needs the defense to be better to win in the playoffs. I do wish he would have included that he has to play better in the playoffs as well. It’s not like Dak has been immaculate during the playoffs.

But overall I got no beef with the overall statement because we do need Q and Downs to be the players on defense we need.

The rest of the story has yet to be written so who knows what his perception will be 5 years from now. For now though, there are two things that need to be recognized IMO.
Darnold made plays. He didn't just take the easy plays.
Teams make mistakes in their evaluations. Whether it be standing pat when they should make a change or making a change when they should stand pat. The Vikings organization & the players rue letting him go.

I'm actually really interested to see how far his narrative can flip. I suspect he doesn't care much. He's got his hardware and that's probably more than he ever thought.

Name the time in the playoffs where Dak as a QB "did his job". I got one: Seattle. Tampa was a washed team with a 45 year old QB.

Other than that, it's more likely Dak chokes than "the team" letting him down. Dak better focus on beating the Commanders...not the playoffs. He's not that good to count playoffs as automatic.

If our defenses are weak like our recent defenses were, no QB can hope to serve this team adequately. Blaming Dak for all of our problems will always be a poor excuse for losing. No one man can handle all the inadequacies of the entire team. This defense should help our cause.

Outside of that, Dak is not going anywhere if this front office has anything to say about it. I'd say that's likely to be the case for the time being. Let's see if this defense helps us to get into the playoffs first, before giving up. We have lots of things to blame besides one man. It's not hopeless.

In our last playoff game against GB, Dak was the worst player on the field in the first half. Total meltdown.

I can see the argument for 2007 being on Romo and his 17 points.

I can see the argument for 2021 being on Dak and especially 2022. But the other games were definitely the defense.

Dak wasn't good in the first half vs the Packers, but you had Purdy doing nothing for one half just 2 weeks later..... 24-7 Lions at halftime - and they storm back to win the game after their defense figured out how to get stops. Cowboys defense was definitely WAY worse than the offense in that game, and of course the usual Dak haters never talk the defense and just bash the QB.

Good post. I said something similar in another thread (link). Dak Prescott is the latest version of a mini-CowboysZone/social media type, World War I trench warfare. Two competing sides, going hard, for literal years, with neither gaining ground against the other.

'Today' will be the day the tide turns. That day has never come. That day will never come. The war rages on.
