Spagnola: Gary is Just what the Doctor Ordered

Jerry clearly won this trade. It couldn't be more obvious. He deserves big credit.

I can't imagine what our D would look like paying Parsons. Not nearly as good that's pretty clear.
I give him credit for the Pickens aquisition as well.

We've been begging for elite talent to be brought here and Pick is that kind of talent.

Even if we franchise him again and get 3 seasons out of him, its a win.

Literally EVERY player that is incoming since 1996 has been "just what the doctored ordered" according to this doofus. It's hilarious that anyone listens to that clown and takes what he says seriously..

All signs and indications they have rebuilt the defense for the better. Anyone that says otherwise, just wants to be negative as usual.
Well..I have to be honest and say it LOOKS like they;ve improved. It's not that big of a stretch.

If I told you I;d give you.... say...10 thousand dollars....that's an "indication". I'll even write a check. But iot doesn't mean it;ll happen.

I'm NOT gouing to be "negative". That would mean I think they have NOT improved or tried to. Not the case.

I do not know why we have such white or black issues here. It's like we have two pidgeon holes and everyone needs forced into one of them.

Odd...Going out to get Amari Cooper came to mind. Jerry has given Dak some serious help.

Hopefully a decent defense this year too.

Here’s the net, the way I see it. Please correct me if wrong….

Dallas gives up:

Micah Parsons
2026 second
2027 fourth

Dallas gets:

Quinnen Williams
Kenny Clark
Rashan Gary
Malachi Lawrence
Whoever they would have lost by paying Parsons.

I’m sorry but considering how awful DT was for so long, the proof being getting bashed up the middle by good teams, I make that trade all day, even if Lawrence is only meh. I’ll take the upside.

Honestly that trade was really the base of my renewed enthusiasm, even if we all know that was not what they originally wanted to do.
Herschel Walker 2.0?

Coop was definitely an outstanding aquisition as well. I know the salary cap has to be kept in mind but going from aquiring Coop in 2018 to getting Quinnen in 2025 is a seriously long time in between getting blue chip players other than the draft.

Agree, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that that’s not what they wanted to do.

Any success will be tripped over, so it’s hope on top of hope, but oh well. We got Caleb, I’m good. :flagwave:
What? It’s true that Jerry botched the Micah deal, but Micah had a lot to do with it. But you have to give Jerry some credit for how he handled it after. Did Q just fall into his lap? No, he went out and got him. The rest is unknown as we haven’t seen Caleb or Malachi yet. But if they pan out, that’s part of Jerry’s, or whoever may be calling the shots now, doing, even though Caleb was a little lucky if he works out.

Jerry didn't win the trade. He took less than what he got from GB. 70 cents on the dollar.
I didn’t think you liked players that disappear in the playoffs or important games. I would also think you wouldn’t like a guy who was ineffective by the end of every season.

Agreed. Even Mickey is talking about his tackling and run defense as being his best ability.

Every team needs that and Gary will be good at that aspect of the game, but we need a real pass rusher and currently we have exactly zero on the roster.

When you watch him, he’s been sliding every year and, while he’s a good run defender, his sacks and qb hits largely come off busted plays where, to his credit, he sticks with it and is sometimes the guy who is there at the end.

I like Gary jast fine but we needed a screwdriver and bought a butter knife (no offense to butter knives or to Gary).

Butter knives are cheap. Which is what Jerry likes.

Then Jerry pays guys like Mickey to sell his cheap products as good.

I would include Overton if including Lawrence
