2025-26 NBA Season

I think the Lakers have to make some kind of attempt to build around Luka. But they just don’t seem to have the talent around Luka, and they don’t have any pieces to build around him, so they’re praying that it’ll pay off. Reaves and Kessler are good, but they don’t come close to other teams’ 2/3 guys.

The Mavs got super lucky with building around Luka. The players Luka needs are on the Mavs, not the Lakers

Yep. It’s crazy how when they finally had the right pieces around Luka, they blew it all up and traded him.

I don’t blame the Lakers for seizing the opportunity. But the Lakers were not equipped for Luka to succeed.

That trade might end up defining Luka’s legacy. He was 25, coming off a Finals loss, with a team that was ready to win. Many all-time greats started their winning around age 26-28. Luka was on the right track.

Now, he’s 27, on a team that probably needs a few more years to build around him. He could be in his early 30s by then. And it’s hard to be the main star on a dynasty at that age. Most of the greats stopped winning in their early 30s.
