Why do people watch the Dallas Cowboys?

I used to watch them for how good they were
These day's I watch them like I would watch a tragic comedy

People watch the Dallas Cowboys for the same reason people watch the Arizona Cardinals or the Cincinnati Bengals.
 
They are the most loved and most hated team in the league...They're pulling views from both sides..

I did. It's hard to tell what the dog is actually laughing at, though.

But to answer the OP's question, I watch because when it's football season, I watch football. And because I live in the DFW area every Cowboys game is televised. If you want to watch football here in DFW, that's the game we get here each week. I miss more games than I actually watch, though. Most of the time they're not worth investing 3 hours of my weekend. They have an owner who doesn't think it's important enough to build a roster capable of competing for a championship, so why should I think it's important enough for me to give them my time? Screw Jerry...

I understand your sentiment. I don’t know how long you’ve been a fan but I started being one during Staubach’s second to last season. It is too ingrained in my blood to give up now. I think I’m starting to know what it was like to be a Cubs fan.

1975 - that was the beginning for me. Most of us old timers who B and moan about the current way the franchise is ran weren't always this way. The turning point for me, and the time I realized Jerry was no longer interested in building a winning team, was when a video of Jerry leaked where he admitted Parcells wasn't hired to win a championship, he was hired to get a stadium built. It was reinforced when Jerry thought hiring Garrett was a good idea. Then he outdid himself by hiring a career assistant who had been passed over for HC jobs countless times.

Jerry simply isn't interested in winning, so I'm not interested in him or giving him my time.

Speaking of the Cubs, their record of futility (108 years) will be broken if the franchise remains in the Jones family stranglehold.

Why do you still follow the Dallas Cowboys?

That should answer your own opening post question.
 
I think it has to do with the 3 periods of glory years, and 1 other thing, the helmets and uniforms.
The helmets light metallic blue with the dark blue star were a charismatic design with good color combo.
Just imagine if they had chose other colors like brown star on yellow helmets, lol it just would not be charismatic.
The seafoam green pants white jerseys were continuous from 60's thru the Romo years.

It was a good look and if anyone turned on the tv and cowboys were on the field you immediately knew it was the cowboys.
That consistency has faded a little with the advent of color rush and other silly new uniforms.
The whole NFL has darkened team colors to the point that they look black , taking color out of the game.

The 3 periods were
65-72 which culminated in losing SB appearance and then SB win the next year.
72-80's where cowboys went to 3 more SB's and only won 1 of them,then were in playoffs many years in a row.
again that was consistency.
Then they had a flat period, enter jimmy and jerry and the 90's SB team. They went to 3 SB's and won all 3.

Then they went flat again as far as winning on the field, but by then the internet media had made the cowboys
the center of attention, and jerry kept them there with his moves and machinations.

They were fun to watch with romo but never got past the div round, still they were talked about constantly by online media. Then came dak and same thing cant get past div round but constantly talked about.
But yes I think jones boys have rode the coattails of the success of Jimmy's team all the way till now.

The Cowboys are the most valuable team in the league. If you can't figure it out that is on you.
