News: Marshawn Kneeland Had Stage 1 CTE

You are the one that does not care about CTE as long as your can watch football
What side do you want them to do? You just cried and moaned about how the league is soft the other day. Talking out of both sides of your mouth.

The only way to stop it is to not play and even that may not.

Does it tick you off enough to motivate you to find a way to diagnose it while people are still alive? Unfortunately, there is no way for that to happen. It’s damage to the brain. It happens because of concussions. It’s as simple as that. We all are a part of not caring enough about what this sport does to boys, and men. We love the game enough for us to block it out. Very sad.
Kneeland took his own life. Do we know it was due to stage 1 CTE? We don't know that. People have mental illness without CTE or concussions playing a role.

We don’t know but a lot of these guys that are having similar fate have CTE. Is it coincidental? Maybe:

Just because some people don't care about CTE doesn't mean it is because they want to watch football. Otherwise they would care? People make unhealthy choices every day, with what they consume, and what activities they engage in. I don't care about someone playing football because they might get CTE any more than I care about someone smoking because they might get lung cancer. I'm not going to stress over how people choose to lead their lives.

How many with stage 1 CTE or worse don't do this? Are we checking everyone? How much do we know? Is it 1 in 10, 1 in 1000, do we even know?
I personally don’t know. To be honest this is the first time I ever heard stages be applied to CTE. When Chris Henry died I don’t recall seeing what stage he had.

That's a very disturbing number. Nearly half of those who died before 30? But that's the risk players are willing to take to play contact sports. Until there is a way of diagnosing CTE or reducing the number of impactful contacts to the head this trend will likely continue.
Here's my question. How do we know that this number is higher in athletes than it is in the general public? I am guessing that Joe Blow that dies of a heart attack or in a car accident or from terminal illness doesn't get tested for CTE.

I think the league is soft and also I think that CTE needs a lot more study and research and you only care about watching the game
but then simple things appeal to the simplistic

Why do you keep bringing up the game lol? Who said anything about the game? You’re the only one that keeps mentioning it lol.

The irony of talking about simplistic with such a simplistic view you can’t be serious lol.

Are you dense? You are the one who brought up money and donations lol… you realized how insensitive and stupid you sounded now your deflecting. Your MO. Im gonna bow out gracefully we on different wavelengths here. You got it champ.
insensitive how and to whom? You are so desperate to virtue signal and use shame as a tactic...if you only knew what that says about you. You never bow out gracefully...you resurface like a turd.

They don’t think it’s risk. The only ones being effected in their eyes are old guys born in the 60s or the young men who have met their demise.

My cousin just transferred to Mississippi st she got a nil deal for 600k. They aren’t thinking about CTE.
It’s the same with people smoking. You can’t stop everyone from making mistakes. It’s a known risk and they are compensated massively for it.

Make it a pre draft mandatory training on CTE and the risks. If you don’t want to take the risk, withdraw from the draft

Gotta pay for those ever-increasing salaries.

How about the players take a 30% paycut, and we'll go back to 12 regular season games and 8 playoff teams like the old days? That's a max 15 games for the Super Bowl teams.

How much money would these players be making without football?

The whole debate is a farce. Football was always scary and violent. Society is just far softer than it was 50 years ago.
Players salaries aren’t going up purely because they want more. They share close to 50% of the profit the league makes. The league makes more money, so do the players.

Great point. People know cigs will kill you but millions still do it…great example.

What happened to personal responsibility? It’s on you if you don’t take it seriously. Just like the example about smoking. Smokers don’t think it’ll happen to them.
