News: Eagles make Carter the highest paid DT ever with $152m contract

This is exactly the type of think thats killing the NFL. I'm actually surprised the Eagles did it. They are usually smarter than this.

I dont begrudge the players.....its the system in its entirety that has now priced out many hard working folks from attending a game.

But every time we see a new high salary at a position we all know who will eventually foot that bill if they want to have the fan experience of attending games and buying team merchandise

Rabbit ears on the TV set and viewing at bars for the games we don't get. I'll put my money in wings and beer before I put it in the NFL

Overpaying for a product is simply a choice.
I illegally stream games as a small protest lol

great defensive tackles are hard to find and the eagles have a good one. williams contract is going to be even more expensive now.
By the time the contract Carter signed today goes into effect (March 2028) there will be at least 10 defensive tackles in the NFL paid more than him. He went for his future guarantees now. I’m sure his agents discussed the pros and cons of signing two seasons in advance. Smart move by Roseman.

If you think they are so smart, go be an Eagles fan!

Cowboys fans can identify good personnel moves as well as fans of the other 31 teams. A player under contract for a number of years is easier to trade. In addition, if a player is locked up long term the team can trade him at a time most beneficial to the team. Contrast that to Pickens. Cowboys are paying him top ten receiver money now, 100% of it against this seasons cap, and he’s a free gent in seven months. No one will give up much, if anything, for a guy they can’t sign to a long term deal. The Cowboys can’t even sign him to an extension right now. This is the opposite of a good personnel move.

Me not like capitalism?.....I love Free market, the constitution and especially the 2nd amendment but I also recognize that the salaries affect the final product cost which is way over the rate of inflation that affects most fans.....especially in ticket sales

Sunday Ticket, as a stand alone, can be $200 if your a first responders or have a discount but for return users it's closer to $480.

Celebrities and athletes are way overpaid in respect to the average person and all im saying is that there is a price to be paid for economic ridiculousness.

Ive got the means but I wont pay for an overpriced non-necessity item that will continue to outpace regular wages and inflation.

But im always pleased to know that other people have the right and freedom to do so......I also have the right to set up the old rabbit ears or use that "NFL Ticket" money to watch it in a bar and eat on that dime
Celebrities and athletes dont have "average" jobs. So of couse they would be paid more than the average person. Do you understand the time, discipline and commitment that it takes to be a pro athlete or working actor?

What do you think these people just sit around, party, do drugs, and then show up for work? Maybe thats how it works in Arlington. But i can assure you thats not what happens elsewhere. And you can be a "celebrity" and not be rich. And all "rich" celebrities arent just people famous for being famous. What the heck are we talking about?

Most "average" people cant do a simple regimented, work out -- set by a Planet Fitness coach consistently. But think being a pro athlete is like playing pick up at the playground. And everything is sweet outside of "practice" or game day. Pro sport days are like 12 hours my brother/sister in Christ.

Your job/economic worth is dictated by the market and what someone is willing to PAY you.

If people don't want "average" pay or "average" lives? They shouldn't do "average" things.

Respectfully.

Eagles really do it all the time. They have a few guys who were the highest paid in the league it just doesn’t last long. By next week someone will top it.

They are getting ahead of the curve.
I think so too I just don’t know who’s gonna top this anytime soon. He’s in this weird spot where he’s young enough to warrant it but he’s not better than guys like Simmons or Chris Jones. But they are years older than them. Kind of like Micah. Micah isn’t better than Garrett but he was younger.

So Carter is the highest paid DT in NFL history, despite not being the best DT in the NFL right now. I wonder if Eagles fans will keep bringing up his contract everytime the Eagles lose a game.

If he plays poorly they’ll boo him in an Eagles victory, even if he played for free.
