Signed by Cowboys Cowboys and star DL Quinnen Williams agree to 3-year, $105.9M extension

Hopefully, the Cowboy curse of second contracts/extensions will not show itself until a minimum of 4 more years.

Fingers, toes and everything else crossed for that to be the reality.
It’s just the name of the game. You sign anyone to a second deal you are gonna get burned. Do you want to get burned by the Quinnens or the Diggs and Terrence Steeles? I’m fine with the Quinnens…

As almost everyone celebrates the signing...the curse of The Big Money payout haunts me. Maybe this one does payoff since he's not injured, rehabbing, or mental case?
Quinnen seems rejuvenated too. Said earlier this offseason that the fact the Cowboys gave up two premium picks to trade for him not only made him feel wanted, it made him feel like they see him as a key to a title run.

I know we are all concerned about the edge rushers, which is valid.

But when was the last time the Cowboys had two DTs as good as Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark at the same time? I think we'd have to go back to the 1990s with Leon Lett and Russell Maryland, to be honest.
I know, right? Just need a Haley now.
Hell, I'd take a Tolbert.

Having said all this....

The Cowboys still had Quinnen under contract for two more years so there really wasn't that big of a rush to get this extension done now. The timing and the sudden extra cap space at least makes you THINK they could be opening up room for a trade acquisition.
Hopefully for a CB

I think he would have said that about any team he went to, generic answer

Would be nice to get him to his first playoffs and that lead to a conference championship let’s just get it all out the way lol.

Motivation is important. Williams has played 7 seasons with zero playoff appearances so I'm sure he's motivated as hell to make a deep run in his prime.

Dudes a stud, he's 2 or 3 solid seasons away from being on the all decade team

As always, our idiots in chief managed to screw this up

If they had done this early in the spring, which a few of us were pounding the table for, they could have freed up $10-12m in 2026 cap space and saved $3-4m per year. We could have maybe used that in free agency

Instead, they waited for the Titans and Eagles to reset the market, sending DT money skyrocketing, only to stumble in at the end and overpay themselves.

Who’s to say they didn’t negotiate during the summer and couldn’t get anything done? Just be thankful it got done now and not two years from now.
