So in other words 20 or so RTs need help, like Steele.

Steeles contract will keep him playing through 2028.

The void year in 2029 has a 4M cap hit.

It’s an insane contract.

We should all brace ourselves…Jerry probably picks up Guytons 5th year option just to spite us.

He's OK vs power rushers. Can't handle speed rushers. The OLT has to handle a bunch of speed rushers.

I watched/listened to Voch and was surprised by nothing. He was an eyesore in pass protection before the injury...now...he's a known liability.

Honestly, the solution they’re banking on this year is Dak avoiding the rush at a high level and getting rid of the ball.

Dak was able to do it last year. He is going to have to do it again this year. It just is what it is.

13th really isn’t that bad considering most lower on the list are rookie contracts. Steele is a low end veteran starter and is paid as one at $11m per. I wish he were a stronger player for sure, but he’s probably paid fairly.

No doubt but what Steele is being generously compensated for his questionable contributions for faulty pass protection. His run blocking is considerably better despite his passing pro woes. It's just sad that our FO wants to get all the bang for their bucks, anyway, since Dak pays a price for it. Steele has no lateral movement to speak of and opposing DEs enjoy it to no end. Yet, our FO tolerates it endlessly, since being filthy rich makes it all bearable, while the fans suffer certain aggravation.

And yet Steele remains better than Guyton. That’s the problem. We have two issues at OT. One issue is much more easily fixable. At least Steele is good in the run game. Guyton has so far been horrible in both the run and pass game

Fair enough but at least Guyton has a first round pedigree and some possible upside that we have yet to see.

We already know what Steele isn’t. Also one is on a rookie deal and the other is stupidly overpaid.

The book on Steele has already been written. Very good run blocker, so-so pass protector. Someone that a playoff team could live with as a starter but really not worth the big contract the Cowboys gave him a couple years back.

And I think they are realizing this given the fact they've drafted guys like Nate Thomas, Ajani Cornelius, and Drew Shelton on day three of the draft recently. Hoping one of them hits and gives them an alternative.

I thought he did a decent job his rookie year and was surprised they moved him right away; I really thought they would give him another year

Steele actually played well at left tackle early in his career when Tyron Smith was injured. Then his development just kind of went stagnant. But the Cowboys value their guys more than most.

Yeah I’ve wanted Steele gone for a while. But with how bad the defense was. There was no way the front office was going to spend high resources replacing Steele at this time.

Knowing their thinking, they were thinking the offense was good enough already. And Dak could succeed with Steele giving up regular pressure. Because Dak has before.

Terence Steele has to fix some things​

On the opposite side, Terence Steele did not have a great day against the Rams. On 105.3 The Fan, Voch Lombardi talked about what he saw from the Cowboys right tackle and it wasn’t a glowing review.


Is it a five-alarm fire? It shouldn’t be because Byron Young is the Rams’ second-best pass rusher next to Garrett. However, a team’s second-best rusher can’t look like an All-Pro if the Cowboys are looking to replicate what they did last year on offense.
Maybe in passing situations this year, the Cowboys keep Brevyn Spann-Ford tied to the hip pocket of Steele to chip the rusher and allow him to get an extra step on a defender. At the end of the day, Terence Steele might be the offensive line’s fifth-best lineman, and that’s okay. As long as the Cowboys aren’t naïve to that fact and can game plan accordingly on game day, it should be fine.

steele is a liability. not only he can't hold fort, at all, he needs help all the time in passing game. he is a revolving door and close to totally useless on passing plays.
