Right now, your offseason moves (particularly trading Brown) aren't looking that great, but that can change in a hurry. No. 2 receiver was going to be a concern even if Lemon was healthy. It's asking a lot for a rookie to replace an All-Pro, even if Brown slipped some last year.

I see Howie as one of the top 3 GM's in the NFL. My guess . . . Philthy will crash to reload on talent. If you look back at their history the last 8-9 years they have a turrible season every so often to move up to an earlier tier in the draft. Only organization I ever saw not follow this kind of algorythm is New England in the Belichick years. I saw thye Stealers always with a winning record and their talent slowly degrade over the last 20 years.

Of course there is the case of the NYgiAints who were pretty consistently drafting in the top 10 with numerous 1's and 2's and they have sucked like a vacuum for a decade. In other words as Voch Lombardi says "some teams suck at drafting". But it was more than drafting.

Maybe so. But that was probably the best deal they could get. That team starts its rebuild after an eleven win season. No sense waiting for a losing record.

I saw a rumor McKee to the Lions to be there back up QB plus a 6th rounder to Detroit for a 4th rounder . Eagles would be crazy not to recoup a 4 for someone they hardly played

1. Don't look for key contributions from top draft picks Makai Lemon or Eli Stowers any time soon. Lemon missed both the spring practices and most of the current camp with an ouchy hammy. Regardless, I don't think they drafted him as a WR 2. Both he and TE Stowers (who's too light to block like a TE) are more chess pieces that can be effectively schemed by a creative OC. Jury's out on whether the Eagles have one.

2. Edge Jonathan Greenard has been similarly absent from practice. The Birds have decent depth at rush end, but, if they're gonna rack up huge sack #'s it's gonna have to be a team effort featuring the DT's, LB's and extended coverage by the CB's.

3. The Birds flat-out don't have a WR #2. They have several good WR 3's. But nobody who's gonna make a good D have to account for any of them.

4. Just don't know if Landon Dickerson is gonna make it through the year healthy. Been in and out of practice and considered retirement in the offseason. I honestly think the Tush Push took a toll on some of the OL's.

5. While Jihaad Campbell is a different type of player than Nakobe Dean, he looks poised to take Dean's spot and quite possibly outperform what Dean did last year.

6. The Birds almost certainly will trade either Tanner McKee or Andy Dalton before the season. They drafted a clipboard guy this year, and don't need both of them.

With 1st rd picks you never know what you'll get. You could get a Mazi Smith or a Tyler Smith or anything in between. Give the kid time.

Before George Pickens got here we also had a number 1 and several number 3s.

Props for stating the bolded and not pretending to be a Cowboy fan to make snide comments like most Eagles fans on here.

On your post. I was a huge fan of Campbell coming into the draft. I think he ends up a better player than Dean who I think was overrated and not worth his pay day. So glad he didn't sign with Dallas.

I dont think they have a #1

My 2 cents: Smith was a really good #2 and a not very good #1. With Hurts and his inaccuracy as the QB, I just don't think he has the body and ability to beat the coverage he will get without Brown taking attention away. With a different QB? Maybe. But the Eagles will need a massive running game again to get back to where they were, which is of course possible because they still have most of the horses if healthy.

His cap percentages are not bad, but you are probably correct about 2027.

Since I'm up in South Jersey for a bit, and I know some Eagles workers, I was able to get some insights into what's happening at their camp. Wicks has apparently taken the #2 WR spot so far, as he and Hurts seem to be on the same page.

Tyler Steen has improved each year and has locked down the RG position.

With Lane Johnson announcing that this is his last year (finally), massive Markel Bell is getting looks and turning heads. If he is the heir apparent to Johnson, the Eagles will end up having the largest pair of tackles in NFL history. Johnson says that Bell definitely has the talent to take his position next year.

Jake Elloitt has made virtually every kick in camp and seems to be his old self again.

Riq Woolen has been up and down but still much better than Adoree Jackson.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. has stepped it up and is a certain to be the first or second LB off the bench, behind Baun and Campbell. At 35 pounds lighter than his father, he can't play daddy's brutal game style. His brother Josiah was the Tampa Bay 2nd round pick this year, and he too is a LB.

Greenard has been injured and done nothing.

Safety is still not settled. Andrew Mukuba will be a starter.

Eagles need a solid C/G backup for Dickerson and Jurgens, both still not at 100%. Drew Kendall seems to have the upper hand there.

2nd round pick TE Eli Stowers is having issues with run blocking. Not good for the rookie.

Makai Lemon has been nursing his hammy, an issue he had in college. Not good for the rookie.

Jason Kelce has been seen at camp. Rumors are flying that a coaching gig may be in his future.

Juan Castillo was my neighbor for seven years when I lived in Mt. Laurel. Four years of playing D1 football at Rutgers also introduced me to quite a few coaches and players. I coached Jeremiah Trotter and Jon Runyan's kids when they were young. I do know a lot of people from the area. A VP in the organization was coaching little league with me. Hell, I was born in Philly. I saw Erik Williams play when he was in high school.

Maybe not, but you drafted him and then traded Brown, so obviously your team is hoping he'll be the guy who can replace Brown. I mean, if Howie was counting on Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore or Dontavyion Wicks to be that guy that doesn't seem like typical Roseman. Brown did have 49 catches for the Chiefs last year, but for less than 600 yards while A.J. had 78 for 1,003.

2025 Stat Comparison. AJ was definitely more productive (more receptions, yards, TDs and YAC), but both had relatively similar yards per reception and average YAC per catch.
