All true Cowboys fans are wandering what the big difference is with in this football team as of late. After watching these first two preseason games it is obvious that this is a very well coached football team. These players know exactly where to line up you don't see the mistakes like last season. And a great sign of this is to simply look at the 2nd and 3rd team defenses have looked really good. I honestly can't remember the last time I have seen such good play from backups this team is well coached, period. Smarter decisions better players and very sound coaching is the difference right now. Please give your thoughts, thanks.

This is exactly what I mentioned back on the 15th (link). It *should* be a good sign and has upped my evaluation of how well the team may perform this season. Now to wait-and-see how well all of the preseason work pays off in the real games. Adding Von Miller on the defensive side should be a huge asset on that side of the ball as far as execution is concerned.

True. Preseason or not everyone seems to be on the same page. For a team installing a new defense it does not look one bit chaotic out there.

It was a mess last year at this time and it carried over. Yes, preseason is vanilla with all backups, but it's still a time to work on fundamentals and getting the basic things ironed out.

This Cowboys team looks cleaner. Will it carry over to when it counts? We shall see.

I read the Cardinals did not play 34 players yesterday. So do not get too excited about preseason.

Haha, as a lifelong follower of the Jets (blame my peewee football coach and best friends dad) I feel this, but I don’t recall five unbeaten preseasons. They’ve had a few and many times have looked great in the preseason only to absolutely suck when it counted.

And the Lions went undefeated in the preseason the year they went 0-16. Preseason is mainly for fringe roster guys to show they earned a spot to make the team. Most teams are running vanilla schemes on both sides of the ball.

And Dallas did not play 36 of their players. It's not like we beat them up with our ones on their twos and threes.

I agree with that, I just see players playing with great effort and hustle, and this has not always been the case here. This is Parker teaching the importance of effort and hustle along with his expertise with alignment and disguise. With these backups playing well for Parker, I can't wait to see the starters that is what I am saying . This defense is being coached up unlike last year.

I'm really looking less at the 2-0 record and more at how the team looks. Yes there are still penalties, but everything looks crisp and smooth. Especially compared to last preseason, and the sloppiness carried over.

Hopefully this team is developing some good habits this summer. Yes, in the end these games are inconsequential, but they can be useful for teams, regardless of the wins and losses.

I agree that it's a positive sign to see a better showing from the backups for sure. However, its still is preseason so we don't know much about how this team will perform when it matters. However, I love the competivness we're seeing and I certainly have a better feeling going into this season than the last 2.

It's against the Saints. So after the 500K fines against both teams I am convinced this will be a real gentlemanly game.

What did you think about how Barham looked in the middle of that defense last night, this guy is an enforcer. All of the sudden with Barham, Overshown, Winters and Barron these inside linebackers look versatile at both run support and pass defense. These players are high effort Dawgs that love the game, winners that want to be great. Parker is getting the best out of who is on the field, good sign.

The Cowboys didn't start about the same number.

It's not the final score that is impressive. It's that our 2's and 3's whipped their 2's and 3's including the super bowl champs. These are games the Cowboys typically look like complete crap and get outplayed at every turn. Not this year.

Joe Milton’s improvement has got to make fans feel a little more comfortable. Just knowing that the season isn’t necessarily over if Dak misses significant time has got to be a good thing.
