The preseason hype train has claimed another victim

I would definitely say we've won the preseason.

Its sad ...... we used to make fun of the Giants and Commanders for "winning the preseason" ....... now our own "fans" are doing it.

I rather have positive fans here than people I don't think are actual fans like you and the person who first liked your comment. With all the negativity here the last few years it feels go that fans are excited about this season.

Again, there are some positive signs for sure but until we have a substantial regular season sample to look at and tangible proof that things have changed for the best it isn’t worth much. It’s just common sense after 30 years of the same clown show, doesn’t have anything to do with being a "true" or "fake" fan.

We all want the same thing and we’re all looking forward to a new season with hopefully a lot of success for our team, doesn’t mean it isn’t normal to still have doubts.

I think one of the reasons for this team's impressive start to the preseason is that they have become immune to distractions.

The Pickens contract issue seemed tenuous at first.

However,

Compare that to the following scenarios:

The team management trades one of the league's top 3 defenders a week before the start of the season and the new DC has to completely revise his plan and each player's role immediately.

The team's negotiations with their franchise quarterback is very lengthy and very public. The stress and uncertainty of not knowing if you have your starting quarterback doesn't end until the morning of opening day.

I mean, controversy is a traditional part of a Cowboys preseason, nothing special here.

Keep your fingers crossed....no devastating injury news to demoralize a team.... you know what I'm talking about. The Cowboys have had preseasons where players were dropping like flies at this point in time, even whole squads.

The Cowboys are not approaching the regular season banged up in need of starting unready rookies. If a rookie starts it is because he is the best player of those competing. He isn't "the next man up". He is "The Man".

There is an element of luck that has to be acknowledged. Sometimes things just fall in the right place at the right time.

Some call that "Destiny".

Doesn't matter, it was still a preseason game played by 2nd, 3rd, and practice squad guys, many of whom won't even make the final 53.

Why do you think most of us don't put much stock into these games? The 1992 and 1993 teams went a combined 2-6-1 in the preseason but won 2 straight super bowls. The 1989 team that went 1-15? They were 3-1 in the preseason.

But I know............ this time it feels different. Same thing that has been said this time of the year at least 25 times over the past 30 years
