I'm trying to remember if those guys had a zeke to hand it off to...often. A huge O-line (never the same since Travis left!) and super stud RB takes a lot of pressure off.

This is the type of post that clearly exposes the emotionally driven agenda.

2016 had the same o-line. same receivers and same defense as the 2015 team. 2016 had a significant upgrade at RB. Not to mention Bryant suffered a Jones fracture in game 1, missed 5 games and played hurt the rest of the 2015 season.

The 2016 team was clearly a better team than the 2015 team and better than the 2014 team that won 12 games. The 2016 team had 5 all pros, Elliot lead the league in rushing and was awarded rookie of the year by the PFWA.

Suggesting Prescott inherited a "crappy", 4 win team is flat out ridiculous.

The team was crappy. Mind you I said 4 wins....I don't even think it got that. If I'm not mistaken 3 of those wins came from Romo and I believe Romo was 3-0 that year. That means they really won 1 game without Romo lol.

I'm sorry that's not a good team. Great offensive line sure. Won't ever knock that line.

Zeke was an upgrade but McFadden started 11 games that year and had 1k yards averaging 4.5 yards a carry. Also had 320 receiving yards. Not rookie year Zeke good but certainly solid. And if he had played 5 more games who knows what those stats would've looked like.

The same offensive mind was here in 2015 and they couldn't win a game without Romo. And BTW, Witten was on the decline and Dez was as well. Beasley was a gift to a young QB and I guess it depends how you feel about Brice Butler and Terrance Williams.....ehh.

If you want to talk about being lucky to inherit a team think of getting Bellichek or the Pats team. Or think of inheriting a Rams team with McVay like Stafford did.


Who says thank goodness I inherited the Cowboys with Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett with a team so good they couldn't even win a game without Romo a year prior?

He was simply the latest (at that time) of rookie quarterbacks for playoff caliber teams, who became the starter either through injury or because they were drafted by their front office for the sole purpose of becoming their new franchise quarterback.

He joined that select list of 'good enough' teams like those led by Ben Roethlisberger, Mark Sanchez, Brock Purdy, Joe Flacco, Shaun King, Jayden Daniels, etc. Every rookie quarterback led team has exited the playoffs before the Super Bowl. What was and still is an abnormality was the presence of the just benched starting franchise quarterback on the same roster as the rookie quarterback for the playoff bound team. That particular circumstance was far rarer by comparison.

Yeah I know it happened before Dak but I think the first time I could remember it happening recently was Sanchez.....but I think Sanchez was a high pick. Seems like after Dak you started seeing more teams willing to take the chance. Though maybe I'm misremembering there.

I was not disagreeing with you. You have differentiated other examples for how many years they were in the league in relation to Ezekiel Elliott production in 2016. I do not understand since that is not what you emphasized in the post I replied to.
