I dont expect the defense to have a big turnaround year 1 and I think the schedule will be tough. I could be wrong on both but im thinking 9-8.

Hard to tell with schedules though. Last years looked rough and was really easy

I hope you’re right. I was cautiously excited with Tuna as well. Someone screwed that up too.

I dont see huge upgrades on the defense tbh. 1st year with new coaches and new players. Too much to make work in one year I feel. Its a building year imo. For sure dont think the schedule will be near as easy as last year. They'd have to be quite a bit better to win 9 this year I feel.

Let's see, a team that was 7-9-1 w/ the 30th D in the NFL made major upgrades and you can't see more wins? For Bog's sake, why not?

Yes, we should but there are too many contributing factors we can’t predict. Like how much has our opponents improved . And will Prescott and key weapons on offense stay healthy.

If everything optimizes in our favor with no key injuries and our division still suks and other in conference haven’t improved then sure we will have a winning season.

But will that translate into success in playoffs .Nobody knows .

For me it’s enough to look forward to see how the defense develops and hope we stay healthy and too many other teams aren’t better. One week at a time as usual.

An offseason completely unJerry-like. Topnotch 3 tech and solid players surrounding him. Top SSLB in Gary, good Ss in Thompson/Locke. Very good prospects to play CB. A vet to play WSLB along w/ good looking young talent.

It looks entirely different. What facts are you pointing at to say things haven't changed?

I get why you’re excited and All In. We finally addressed what you’ve been screaming for years up the middle at DT & S.

And we overall went out and acquired upgrades throughout defense and attempted to draft other weaknesses.

So the basis of pieces are more in place than we’ve had in years defensively if we have at least in group effort an edge and pass rush.

And why we are on the edge of our seats hoping it develops into something substantial. Again, we get it.

What hasn’t changed despite efforts on defense is the turd in skybox is still here. Can’t shake our history this era until we kick the door down despite him. Just having a better defense without that team success we’ve been waiting for won’t mean anything.

Luckily we aren’t in the North or West. The Egirls don’t look to be as strong as previous years so the division looks more for the taking assuming rest of division hasn’t improved more.

And that’s the clearest path to playoffs and a home game . Beyond that I see based on recent history about 4-5 teams in conference better.

There is little question that the 2026 Dallas Cowboys have improved their overall talent, especially on defense. That’s exciting of at the time of year when optimism is highest. And it’s not un-reasonable to expect improvement in the upcoming 2026 season.

But here’s the one key element that mini-camps, training camp, and pre-season games cannot show us yet: How will this team handle adversity?

When the real bullets begin to fly on September 13th, we will begin to see what this team is truly made of, and how strong the revitalized culture that so many have talked about. And it will take more than a game or two to see what this team is. It may be November before we really know what this team can be.

Adversity is something that measures every football team every season. The question is not whether or not you will face adversity. The real question is, “How well will our team handle the adversity that will come its way?

So I’m glad to see the glowing reports I’ve heard all summer saying, “This team is different.” Do we know that yet? No. Not yet.

But we will begin seeing this team’s potential when they are faced with rebounding from a tough loss, overcome an injury, or stick together through all adversity.

Adversity is what measures all great football teams. We haven’t seen any adversity yet. But when we do, how this team responds will decide its ultimate fate.

You made a lot of great points. I will differ with you regarding a changed culture.

I agree with your recommendation for fans to be cautious about this season, as us Cowboy fans have been conditioned for three decades to expect bitter disappointment.

Is this season going to be any different? Probably not, but it could still be an exciting year.

My initial goal every season is to win the division as soon as possible........( playoff game at home locked in ). I think 10 wins could do it this season.....

No, he’s a sound minded fan and long time critic. But the Cowboys finally addressed the key weaknesses on defense he’s been screaming for years.

I hate him so much that it would actually piss me off if he got to win another Super Bowl. It would be 90% celebration for the franchise and 10% bleep him and his entire family.

I will never ever forgive destroying a dynasty to appease his own ego.
