I'm with you. The discussion is what the Cowboys will do. But, If it were my call Cornelius is in the mix. He is more talented (IMO) than Thomas and better (at least at this point in time) than Shelton. Did he even play enough OT this offseason to be an option there? I would have been playing him more at OT all along

Why? He came in fighting for a reserve OL role. Its in his best interest to show them he can be decent at multiple positions on the line. It only increases his value and helps him to make the 53.

Because he pretty much only played OG this year not both and we aren't looking for OG position flex as we are more than set there with backups who will be on the roster. OT was a way onto the roster and a massive need for us and that likely went by the wayside with him not playing it at all. A rookie TC with backup snap counts doesn't prep you to be a starter OT if called upon a year later

I honestly believe that Howell will not make it to the PS. He is much better than a lot of the backups QBs I have seen on other teams. I think they keep all three.

I could see them going with only 4 ILB and hoping they can get Barron onto the PS. The big debate at OLB is Williams vs. Houston. Houston is clearly the better pass rusher but Williams can do more things.

I will be very surprised if Cornelius isn't kept on the OL...he has had a good camp and played well in the first two games. I think Keegan and Leverette are fighting for one spot. Cornelius may not have the flexibility that Keegan and Leverette do, although he possibly could play T in a pinch. I know you want to keep our draft pick and we are light at T but keeping players that look overmatched makes no sense.

Hoping Mafah can make it to the PS. Trigg disappointed last night. Actually all of the backup TE's did. Several of the receivers made their case....you could see what the Cowboys liked in them.

I think that Mafah does make it to the practice squad and gives them solid depth. I think that Davis is going to do well as the 2nd back.

I think this year is going to be tough making cuts. RB and WR in particular have guys in a bunch. I'd like to see Mafah make the team in case Williams goes down. I don't think they need Davis and Blue.

WR is really going to be tough. Some of the new guys look like they can make plays. Brown, obviously has shine in preseason games. But Anthony Smith looks like he can get open and brings some speed to the table. Perhaps he is the replacement for Turpin.

I think they need to find a way to keep Trigg.

Schottenheimer was praising same Williams during the Saints game in a sideline interview. I think that's the kiss of death for Sam. Maybe the can trade him for a 6th round pick.

Howell is not subject to the waiver wire. They could have a handshake agreement with him to cut and then bring him back either on the PS or the 53. Of course, Howell could not honor the handshake deal if another team made him a Godfather offer.

Howell has a GTD contract.

The only saving grace with that one is that we do save $500,000 against the cap if we cut him. What would be best, though, is if we could trade him, even for peanuts, because most of the guaranteed money is the base salary his new team would inherit.

Hopefully, we've got a few players we're trying to move ... and trying to get.

I'd be offering up Sam Williams, Tyrus Wheat, Markqwese Bell and Jonathan Mingo. With Williams and Wheat, we possibly could keep whichever one we can't trade, but they are far down the depth chart so even having them active for special teams would be difficult. I'm a bigger fan of Bell than some on here, but his trade value might make it worth it to move him with the depth we have at safety. Trading Mingo would keep us from having to keep six receivers if we want to keep Brown.

Not saying it is what I personally would do, but I think Machota nailed the OL. I think the team will keep 10 OL and I think we keep all of Thomas, Shelton, Keegan and Leverett

I think that they will try to get an offensive tackle that isn't on the roster currently.

As good a list as any and I think this is going to be pretty close, but I don't think you could go with only 4 CBs. Downs playing the Nickel Corner in CPs defense doesn't totally replace a CB. It's a hybrid position.

A modest guarantee. And they would still get beneficial value of that contract if he is on the PS. Of course, there would be some additional cost signing him to the PS.

Yes. But he put 4 on the initial. That is what I was commenting on. I can’t assume all the moves we may or may not do which I why I don’t pre r things like starting with the LS waived because it’s dumb since we know we will just resign him so I put him on my list
