Damn you.....I visualized the neck fat jiggling with gusto and gleeI can sense Fat Mike laughing at us right now.
Precisely. Fixer-upper depth piece for very little draft capital - I’m good with it.I mean they traded what 20 spots for a guy? I don’t see the big deal.
It literally is.But that's not the price for Jones.
It literally isnt.....we get a 4th back. DohIt literally is.
GeminiWhich lmm did you use? Good prompt
Yeah true, and it could end up being less. I can see Pittsburgh having a not so great season, and if Dallas does well, you’re talking about less than 20 spots.Precisely. Fixer-upper depth piece for very little draft capital - I’m good with it.
Beats going into the season with almost nothing behind Steele and Guyton.
He struggled against 3rd and 4th string guys this preseason. He probably was going to be cut. He was bad bad. You have to wonder if he is 100% recovered or did he rush himself back. And he is a FA after this season which makes this move even more questionable. I guess its a gamble and Jerry is a gambler. He was a first round talent. If he's recovered from last year's neck surgery, good player.
On fire the past year? The steelers were not going to cut a 1st round pick still on is rookie contract, get real. And the fo deserves a lot of credit for rebuilding the team in the past year, why not just ride the wave and trust the move - they have been on fire the past year
List me 5 of those.Yeah true, and it could end up being less. I can see Pittsburgh having a not so great season, and if Dallas does well, you’re talking about less than 20 spots.
That’s not my concern. I just hope this guy is healthy. Something tells me they couldn’t get him out of Pittsburgh soon enough, but I don’t know.
If he passes physicals and is cleared to play, fine, but it usually takes guys about a full season to recover from a major injury. Some are never the same.
Why does it feel as if when a team wants to dump a player they call Jerry and end up with a decent pick for someone who would have been cut?
Just cause we got a 4th back doesn't mean we didn't give them a 3rd and a 6th. The cost for us to acquire this player was literally a 3rd and a 6th. In return, we got the player and a 4th.It literally isnt.....we get a 4th back. Doh
Hopium is, at best, what you're getting from Jones. Spinal fusion surgery is something that permanently impacts your ability to function. As a pro rasslin' fan, I know that b/c spine and neck injuries are commonplace with wrestlers. They invariably have to modify their style, aka cut back on the moves they can do. I posted on here earlier that Petit-Frere has had 28 NFL starts and he's 26. Not arguing he's the answer. Just arguing that he would have cost nothing. I AM arguing that Jones isn't the answer, and he cost draft capital. So, you cant actually answer the point.
In effect it's a 6th Rd and go back 10-15 spots to improve on Thomas and even possibly move Steele to the sidelines. So you suggest the possibility of Petit-Frere, could you tell us about him, because I cant find any stats for him in 2025 and in the last 12 months he's been cut by the Offensively challenged Titans and Commanders.
What does make sense, is identifying the biggest area of weakness and improving it....by making a deal, rather than using hopium that a serviceable Tackle is: A) Cut and B) getting to us (in a league where serviceable Tackles arent a plenty)
But Petit-Frere didnt even play last year......that either indicates he couldnt break the Titans Line, or his injury is even worse. If Jones' injury was that severe he wont pass the physical, even, as has been said, he struggles vrs speed, but is OK vrs power, that's still an upgrade on Steele/Shelton/ThomasHopium is, at best, what you're getting from Jones. Petit-Frere was likely a bad example. Fred Johnson, who I previously mentioned, would've made my point stronger. But here's the point, and remember, I'm speaking as an Iggles' fan here, I've been impressed with the (surprising to me) discipline that Dallas has shown during the off-season. This trade reeked of Jerrah Desperation. I think Jones was a bust before the fusion surgery. I don't see him playing any productive role on the Cowboys this season. None. If I'm wrong, I'll own up to it. Were I a Cowboys' fan, I certainly wouldn't be upset with a trade to upgrade the OL. But not this trade for this player at this price. But Petit-Frere didnt even play last year......that either indicates he couldnt break the Titans Line, or his injury is even worse. We should all have absolutely no problem with calling this what it is: A bad trade. We're trading for an injured LT on a one-year deal who hasn't played RT and expecting him to solidify our swing tackle position immediately? It'll probably take him weeks to get healthy, months to learn RT. By that time, the season's already over! This was bad trade.
Jones is probably a 5th round value at best. There’s legitimate question whether he can even step in this year and do an adequate given his injury. Even when healthy he’s been middling.
My only concern is that the problem still isn’t fixed. Don’t really care about the pick. Still the cost seems steep for someone who was probably going to be cut. This was bad trade.

I do not like it.Does anyone like this deal?
This looks awful…
