TRADED Cowboys trade for OT Broderick Jones

Not even a Divisional playoff win in 30 years, no playoffs last year, and on fire ?

With the moves they have made to make this team better yes they have been on fire - your comment just screams stubbornness and inability to look at things from a balanced pov - you are jaded and that’s fine but the prior 30 years of struggles do not discredit the good work the FO has done over the past 12 months

That’s fair. It’s really a mixed bag. This position was necessary to address but the caliber of picks involved?

If I knew the problem was definitely fixed, I’d be much more ok with it, but neck surgery when it usually takes players a year to get fully right after major surgery? Whoa…

I realize they got a fourth back, and it might not be that many spots behind….as well as that I’m more concerned about swing tackle this year than draft picks next year…but I just very much hope this guy is physically able.

Somehow I see MM laughing at Jerry somewhere on an office in western Pennsylvania right now.

But Petit-Frere didnt even play last year......that either indicates he couldnt break the Titans Line, or his injury is even worse. If Jones' injury was that severe he wont pass the physical, even, as has been said, he struggles vrs speed, but is OK vrs power, that's still an upgrade on Steele/Shelton/Thomas

I am hoping that Dallas comes to their senses on this desperation trade and Jones does not pass his physical. The 2027 draft is loaded and Dallas does not have that many draft picks. Our draft next year is now:

Based on his career numbers and advantage in experience, Jones should be an upgrade over both Shelton and Thomas. Whether or not he'd be better than Guyton or Steele remains to be seen.


Notice we say "should be an uptrade" because Jones is not a lock to have success in Dallas given what we've seen out of him during his careeer.



Through three seasons and 1,378 pass-blocking snaps, Jones has given up 95 pressures and 20 sacks and has Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grades of 59 or lower in each.


He hasn't been a great run-blocker, either, as Jones' best mark there is a 64.2, which came in 2024.


In 11 games last season, Jones surrendered 23 pressures and six sacks and was graded with a 59 in pass protection and a career-low 50.6 in run-blocking. Jones did not look to be improving this preseason, either, as he allowed five pressures, three sacks and posted similar PFF grades in three contests.

Jones is no doubt a worthwhile addition when you consider the shaky situation in Dallas, but he's anything but guaranteed to be the reliable swing tackle the Cowboys need, and we didn't love what Dallas gave up for him, either.

This player should have gone for a straight sixth. At best.

Look, if he solves the problem, the cost is fine, but does he? I’m really skeptical as to if he is even healthy.

I don't see what the problem is with the Jones trade. We gave a 3rd and got back a 4th. If the Cowboys are good and Pitt sucks, which they will, the difference is a few picks later. Why are people stressing over this?

Let me preface this by saying that I understand we need depth/help at tackle, and that I know there isn't a surplus of good tackles dangling out there that teams are wanting to get rid of.......

....this price feels way too steep for a guy who is a former 1st-round bust, is on the last year of his deal, and had rumors swirling that Pitt was ready to move on from him anyway.

And to be clear, I don't hate the move. I hate the price. I have no problem bringing in a guy like this for depth and seeing if a change of scenery does something for him, but giving up what we gave up for him? That's where I have a problem. That 3rd is a big deal, especially in this upcoming draft. This front office's obsession with former 1st-round players should be studied. Has anybody else just burned through mid-round picks for busts like this team? It's maddening. It never works out.

Maybe this guy comes in here and balls out and makes all of us who hate this move look stupid..........but I doubt any of us are holding our breath.

Problem is we addressed a problem with another problem.

Because we could probably have had a player just like this, for nothing, tonight.

If Jones wasn’t their GMs very first, first round pick (that he traded up to get), they would have cut Jones today.

We did not give up a 3rd pick we gave up the difference between most likely a high 3rd for a low 4th and a 6th.
