Run down on Broderick Jones for Dallas people

Fun fact: Nate Thomas started HALF the games Jones did last season and allowed the same number of pressures.

This was a typical Jones move: make a splash to get attention; secondarily, to actually do something positive.

This absolutely shows they have little confidence in their tackle room. With good reason. So far the only positive sign this preseason has been that Guyton might be finally taking a big step forward. Steele has looked bad; and Thomas and Shelton worse.

some move had to be made.

Whether this is a good one has yet to be determined
Better post.

You said tackle picks were made in '24 and '26.
I identified them.
I said first round picks and the whole comment was referring to the Steelers and was focused on why the Steelers were willing to walk away!

Some quick things I have read about Jones:

-Strengths: Plus athtlete.
-Weaknesses: Poor technique.
Good post!

The positive thing is you can't teach athleticism. He has it!

Leverage, footwork, finishing blocks.....those ARE teachable and we have a very good OL coach.

Another stupid 1st round bust pickup thinking Dallas can make chicken salad out of you know what. They’ll never learn.

What is weird is that he never worked with Duke Manyweather in the offseason but some of his teammates like Frazier have.
Well, this year at least, it’s hard to go to Duke’s camp if your’re in a neck immobilizer for three months

Broderick Jones is a splash move?
Wait till you hear Jerry talk about it tomorrow at the press conference

He’ll talk about “improving” and “help us now” and he’ll mention “compete for a championship” somewhere in there

We know it’s not a splash move but we know Jerry will play it that way even if he doesn’t use that word

Exactly!

Hard to believe they had the #2 offense in the league last year isn't it?

The "our OL is bad" crowd couldn't be more wrong.
Lol… our red zone numbers were mediocre and our OTs gave up way too many pressures.

To try and sweep it all under the “we had the #2 statistical offense” rug is simple ignorance

For them to score as many points as they did means there were a lot of touchdowns coming from outside of the redzone.

Every team has areas they need to improve upon. Red zone is that area for the Cowboys. But a similar offensive performance to last year would be a good thing.

Where did this come from? Cowboys are moving their 3rd down a little and spending a 6th on a former 1st rounder. Everyone seems to forget he is still on his rookie deal too.

If he works out, then he does. If he doesn't, then he doesn't. The amount of overreading into this trade is over the top.

The Cowboys aren't panicking over any position. Especially OT where the top 4 from last year are all returning.
Wrong again. “Moving down a little”?

If you think a 3rd rounder is the same as a 4th rounder, you are just wrong. Period.

And Pittsburgh was likely cutting this player anyway!! Why trade anything for him!! Just a bad move. Even worse that you are trying to defend it lol

The fact they traded for a player like this tells you exactly what the FO thinks of our OTs. Of course you can’t have your head in the sand in order to see it lol

Wake up man… this was a bad trade in several ways. Not enough lipstick in the world to cover up this pig lol

Seeing how they never had the starting projected 5 OL in a full game, and most games had a back up in at one of the positions.
It is amazing how the offense still produced.
Too bad the defense let them down.

Matter of fact they never had the projected starting 5 in all but maybe 10 games the past 5 years.
But were a top offense all those years.

And if they had done nothing as usual and Thomas had to play and got Dak killed we would all be screaming for Jerry;s head because they did nothing to try and address and obvious need.

Exactly. For weeks people have been on here screaming for an OT. So Dallas gets an OT and they are still pissed off.

Nobody was giving the Cowboys an all pro starter. Jones was the best they could have done.
