No, Milton has extremely good tools. At the QB position, that doesn't make him the better player.

Howell reads Ds better and can play w/i the system better. Should be more consistent. Milton makes big plays, but makes way too many boneheaded plays.
And I think that’s the bottom line, who do you trust more and that’s what I said from the beginning, they both have different skill sets, but who do they trust more?
And we just found out obviously

I think he’s trusted more, does that make him better, in some ways, but not in every aspect, obviously the franchise agrees with you
Better QB, absolutely. Milton has better tools and is faster, but doesn't play the position as well.

Just not true. Howell is a better QB than Milton.
Of course he is. He had the most passing attempts in 2023. He's EXPERIENCED...not necessarily better.

In 2023: Howell threw for 4000 yards with 21 TDs, and 21INTs.
In 2024: A rookie Jayden Daniels - who Milton shares many of the same physical gifts with - took the team to the NFC Championship game.

He's a career journeyman backup. We need to strike oil...not mud.

I agree with you. This feels like a "fit" decision...not one based on performance and potential. Howell is cooked...he is a journeyman backup. He also gets dinged as he is a smaller guy. Dak for sure will get dinged this season...most likely in a way that will cost him a start or two.

I attribute this DUMB decision to 3 things:
1. A cult of personality inside the building that is blind to the fact that there are 31 other teams.
2. This cult of personality is especially strong in years when Jerry believes the team is competitive...and therefore presupposes Dak can't get injured...not in Jerry's destiny year.
3. Schotty and the team playing favorites based on "fit".

Screw that...I want an uncomfortable coach and QB room. Troy and Jimmy had a rocky relationship for years. Not ideal...but screw "fit".
Yeah i'm not a fan of the message they are sending with this. People are going to say what's the uproar over Milton but its bigger than the player. Its the message they are sending. Guys need to be fighting for jobs and on their toes. Its also why a guy like Lupeke is here and why CJ Goodwin was here for so long. Comfortability. Very discouraging for what I thought was a change in how they handled things.

Poise, who was more comfortable in the pocket, who is more comfortable when pressed out of the pocket, those are some big questions

I like Howell but people are trying to make him more than what he is. He's a journeyman.

And I don’t know how anybody can argue that point, they might like Milton‘s upside better .but right now he’s not

I just posted this in another thread, this screams of Jethro protecting Dak, this is a terrible move..
This has nothing to do with protecting Dak lol. If anything Milton was more Dak friendly because he was so raw. And they could sell "he's not ready yet". This is Shotty playing favorites because he's comfortable with him and he's comfortable calling plays for him if Dak went down.

Milton is a extremely physically gifted QB that is progressing.

This was stupidity at its finest.

They did it to give him an opportunity to start I guarantee it.

His agent probably pushed for it.

They might have tried to trade him. Who knows..

Who do they trust? I don't trust them!!!

This is the problem with keeping an in-house serf like No-Schott. No one is there to be disruptive. Just as long as Dak and Schotty and the QB room is feeling good about themselves!

He might be, but still has upside.

The guy w/ better tools is quite often not the better QB. Was Josh Freeman better than Tom Brady? But he could run a lot faster and throw a lot harder, so he must be.

The only way I can rationalize releasing him and getting nothing in return is if they intend to bring him right back for whatever reason. Otherwise add this to Jerry's huge list of awful decisions.
Well, that’s what I’m thinking, not that you agree with me lol
