Who do they trust? I don't trust them!!!

This is the problem with keeping an in-house serf like No-Schott. No one is there to be disruptive. Just as long as Dak and Schotty and the QB room is feeling good about themselves!
And that’s a pretty good self opinion

Milton is a extremely physically gifted QB that is progressing.

This was stupidity at its finest.

They did it to give him an opportunity to start I guarantee it.

His agent probably pushed for it.

They might have tried to trade him. Who knows..
Was he?

Might be, guess we'll find out. If he was anywhere near as good as you're making him out to be, we would've easily got a 2nd for him.

The only way I can rationalize releasing him and getting nothing in return is if they intend to bring him right back for whatever reason. Otherwise add this to Jerry's huge list of awful decisions.
It's been reported they do want him back on the PS. The question is if a team like Miami or Arizona will let him clear waivers.

Seriosuly tho I thought Milton was all good lol. wow.
Think I would have kept the canon arm. Seemed to be way ahead of where he was last year.

I think we've either run out of patience on guys or there's a couple big moves on the way . Gotta think we are looking at upgrades at other positions. Maybe he asked out?

He might be, but still has upside.

The guy w/ better tools is quite often not the better QB. Was Josh Freeman better than Tom Brady? But he could run a lot faster and throw a lot harder, so he must be.
The thing is we are talking about Sam Howell here. I get the fascination because he kind of has a little gun slinger in him kind of looks like Romo and Baker Mayfield and people like that. But he's not their caliber. He's a turnover prone journeymen. So this notion he was better than Milton....while true it wasn't like he was that much better and Milton did outplay him in the preseason games.

That's the point. If "better QB" is your standard, then let's go get Tom Brady out of the booth. The guy showed remarkable improvement, we need a young prospect and he has 1st round QB physical gifts. He has absolutely shined in a regular season game and then done so in 2 out of 3 preseason games.

To quote Lombardi: "What in the hell is going on out there?!?"

Do we even have a QB3? Will Wintz become available when JJ is nursed back to health?

I thought so too, but I think Howey is more of a QB than Milton.

If all goes as the Cowboys hope, Milton will be back on the practice squad tomorrow. And teams can protect up to four PS players every week from getting poached.
As long as he’s not instantly added to someone else’s roster

I'm starting to lean towards the Cowboys said Howell was the backup and he and his camp said screw that. Which is what happened in New England.

I can easily see that type of attitude pissing them off and cutting him. Especially Shotty.
So as soon as Shotty decided Howell was QB2, he should of spoken to Milton, see if he was OK with QB3, and if not at least sort a trade.... especially if these comments are correct on GBag that teams were enquiring about our QB's

Dak is due for $75m in 2027. He will get a restructure or extension next offseson just so we can get new contracts for Pickens, Fluornoy and Overshown.

If we cut him after the 2027 season, it comes with a $131m dead cap hit

The cowboys are probably going to have Dak counting against their cap until at least 2030 and that’s if they bite the bullet and don’t keep restructuring him every year

There is no plan after Dak. Dak is the plan.

Bottom line, the Cowboys don’t *need* or even *want* Daks future replacement to be on the team because he will never play unless Dak has a career ending injury.

They *need* a bus driver like Howell or Rush.
Yes, this is why I questioned why Milton was brought here, and why he wanted to come here, when he would be a FA before Prescotts deal expired.

Same with Lance. I really don’t get the Jerry line of thinking most of the time.

There was never going to be an opportunity to get a QB on the cheap. They gave up little, but this is a team that needs draft picks more than any other and they tend to throw them away on things that have no real chance to become something.
