Just an idea? The Giants had Ricard leading at FB for Skatabo, which makes things even more difficult to take down Skatabo because that's about 500lbs that our defence had to try to take down.

Elijah Garcia (DT) and Marcellus Johnson (OT) are both over 300 lbs and are on our PS? What if we called one of them up and put them at FB? Nothing against Luepke, but them leading for Williams, Luepke, or Demercado (etc) might be a very dangerous run game. I think, especially, maybe we make Johnson a FB? Him plowing the way for our RBs would be very dangerous imo. I wonder if it'd be worth calling them up against the Commanders to see what happens?
 
Sometimes you cannot make certain players fit a scheme because another team uses it that way. John Harbaugh had Patrick Ricard splitting fullback and defensive tackle responsibilities starting his rookie year before moving him to fullback full-time his third season. He has been playing fullback practically his entire career. Picard is an established veteran at the position.

You can add size to the position, but you would do so without adding the blocking experience. Picard is also called upon to run the ball and catch the occasional pass out of the backfield.

The best application is special down-and-distance situation for substituting a larger player for Hunter Luepke. Goal line situations. 4th-and-inches in your opponent's territory. As the standard fullback element of your gameplan? No. That has a greater chance of backfiring.
 
Ricard doesn't really matter any more than a 240 lb fullback. What killed the Cowboys was simply being overwhelmed with numbers at the POA.

It's not like the Giants run game was all Power I - 24 Slam or whatever. They had a ton of pulling OL and used Dart to exploit the edges when backside defenders crashed down.

The 5-man front is a stupid modern defense for exactly this reason. You don't have numbers to get to the ball.

We are a passing team. All of our money is spent on throwing the ball. We just extended a WR and a TE.

How about our coaching staff game plan around that?

We need to throw first to set up the run. Not the other way around. Harbaugh has built his team as a run first.

You have to keep in mind Jeruh for decades has done the opposite. Game planning otherwise is dumb.

We should start every game like we are down 10 points.

I get that, but I think it might be an idea for helping improve our run game.

How about using and playing the got darn FB you have right now. Luepke can be a iso blocking and catching FB in the mold of Moose...baby Moose.

I am no longer sure we have a starting running back with enough situational awareness to not allow his emotions to get the best of him. Getting a taunting call? With over five minutes left in the game and you are still trailing by a touchdown?

Seriously. Cam Skattebo is a certifiable nutcase. He was doing idiotic somersaults while not committing stupid penalties. What the freaking heck was Javonte Williams' excuse???

I do agree, but we are also the Dallas Cowboys lol. We should be able to run the ball better than we do. And I think having a big fullback to just plow the way for our backs might be good. Plus that would help set up the PA, which Dak does well with.

I actually like Williams, I think he’s a good running back, he might even be better than SKATT, he only ran for 89 yards

Some might point to coaching and the discipline required by them

Accountability and consequences used to take care of those things but......

Only the Harbaughs and Vikings do the bulldozer fullback anymore. Ricard has been with Harbaugh for eight years doing that thing you saw, over and over. He can’t run and can’t catch. He’s just a battering ram. He’s a pure specialist.

You can’t really just go get a big guy and plug him in. If we did, we might as well put Ogbonnia back there since he’s already on the 53 man.

Everyone other NFL teams including the Chargers are chasing Kyle Juszczyk in San Francisco. That’s what they would like to attempt with Luepke.
