Just an idea at fullback?

Forget what the league is doing. Look what the Giants did to us. The Cowboys won 5 SBs as a run first team. 3 years ago most teams were going w the 2 back system then Saquan runs for 2k and now everyone back to the one back system.

We need to quit being followers and go back to our identity. Run first, get a few firat downs, give defense time to get breath but no we pass 7 out of 10 times and when we do run we dont run with conviction as almost like we are forced.to run the ball.
No you can't do that not yet not why you're trying to figure out growing pains and especially not in game one you would have ran your own clock out if we'd have done that against the Giants with the limited possessions we got on offense and then run our own clock out no you needed to score faster every game will have its own identity I like running to football but you don't have to have a full time fullback but I'm telling you this is not old school football that does not work most games..

You understand what you're saying and I think they do have a power run game I think they did that very well last year but we're judging this all by Game 1 and game one they could not have played small ball it would not have worked they had limited possessions on offense and you can't run your own clock out on yourself therefore they should have opened it up more on offense I would have liked ahead seen five wides their guys were holding especially Phillips on every single snap there was a lot of contact you would have gotten a lot more penalties and you would have got a lot more chunk plays so yes in game one no small ball that wouldn't have worked maybe you start games out that way but once a game takes on that ugliness where they're playing keep away with the ball you have to open it up not shrink..

I thought about that but not in this game you already had limited time of possession you couldn't limit your own time of possession by going slow you needed to actually go faster in a type of game like this it sucks putting all that pressure on your offense I have to score quickly that was the case time was running out You couldn't play small ball in that kind of game I disagree in that game it would have been a horrible game plan and it would have needed to change anyway II know he likes to run the ball a lot but at some point you have to open it up we're supposed to have one of the better offenses and passing games in the league Then you need to open it up in a game like this you have to score quickly it sucks it is that kind of pressure you you can't protect your defense as well but that is the only reason I agree with him not going for it on 4th and inches he was protecting his defense but at the same time the people were mad understands that they needed to score on every drive because they weren't gonna have very many drives but you didn't know that until after the game It was the proper call..

But that's the whole thing here though so I'm disagreeing with that I do like ball control You can help your defense but I am sick of this narrative that we have to coddle the defense it is time to take the training wheels off the defense and if they can't get it done if Parker can't get it done he will be one and done he will be the most overrated hire we've ever had because of all the expectations that it's like players with what do you call it potential,

That needs to stop him playing all this zone and playing back no when you have a team you're unsure of the best thing you could do is play fast and aggressive do what Brian Flores is doing we know we couldn't have gotten him we we already talked about that I don't want them to do that all the time but if you're trying to hide your warts that's what you do it's sort of what Dan Quinn does he can't stop the run very well he really can't defend on the bend don't break So what does he do brings a lot of pressure tries to create turnovers,

By the way that almost worked I mean there were a lot of balls on the ground they just didn't get them they only got one of them potential interceptions the only way you're going to help your young team in the process while you're waiting on them to grow and figure it out is to get those turnovers and the best way to do that is play aggressive You know you're going to live and die right I'd rather live and die with aggressive blitzing and crazy eye candy motion on the defensive side where you don't know what's coming who's coming or when it's coming you don't have to do this all year but that's what it should have happened in the 2nd half last night and they didn't do it they stayed in the zone too much...

Gonna reiterate no you cannot play small ball to protect your defense anymore because if the defense looks like game one they're giving up long time of possession drives that does not leave enough time to play small ball on offense..

You realize that's what you do when you get a 14 point lead then you start running the ball a lot and yes it helps the defense but in this case it wouldn't have it would have been worse... Feel they may have ran the ball too much I haven't even looked at it but I think they needed to open it up more and really that George Pickens dropped before the interception that was a huge play junkyard flip the whole game it would have flipped the field That is what we needed to do more of his balls thrown like that because one the Giants were holding a lot a lot of them are getting angry of all the holding calls they were really holding I forget the name of the guy Phillips he was holding on every single coverage everyone they only called half of them and he's angry like he didn't do something they were holding our guys all night so we needed to throw the ball more deep not run the ball in this game but there'll be games where we could play small ball but not until our defense grows up i'm sick of hearing that word protect the defense..

Again, I understand that, especially with the run game, and I get that about the GP drop. But I think running the ball more effectively can help. And, unlike 2014, we don't have a back who fumbles like Murray would lol. So, that's an improvement lol. So, by controlling TOP, maybe our D can play better because they won't be on the field as much? It's not about coddling the defence. It's about trying to keep the ball moving when we have it, and letting the defence build. I do agree we need to stop with the zone. It's not something we've done well, and I think we have the players to play man. I think man would make things a lot easier for our team. But, in the meantime, controlling TOP can be helpful too.
