Ezeiruaku on communication issues being a result of not playing in preseason

Cowboys edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku brings up the preseason when talking about the communication breakdowns: “Communication is two-way right. It’s giving and receiving. That’s just something we’ve got to tighten up. You know things are a little different when things are flying around on Sunday night as opposed to it being in practice or camp. First week is never clean. There are obviously going to be mistakes. I, mean, during the preseason, a lot of the starters didn’t really play.”

OMG I’ve been saying this for years. stop not playing the starters in preseason. going back to last few years of garrett, Jones were like practice is enough, we don’t want them injured. BS they need in game time, so do the coaches on adjustments. If i was the coach id play them 1st Quarter min every game.

Preseason is an excuse for them not being on their game but I do notice Chiefs year in and out play the starters including Mahomes. I’d follow that blueprint whether it works or not. Certainly wouldn’t follow Cowboys.

Mostly it takes us 3-4 games to start playing NFL quality football.

It was just a perfect storm.

9/11 anniversary, season opener at home, new coach in Harbaugh, all the bounces going their way with fumbles and drops.

Andy Reid is one of the all time goats as a HC though.

So he might just be better at preparing the players outside of preseason games.

End of the day. When you come out and suck in week 1. People are going to question your process.

But I think a first time coach like Schotty needs Al the time they can get with preparing their guys. He probably isn’t as efficient at it as a long time veteran and half of famer like Reid.

The problem, and reason, with playing your highest paid players making millions a year is what if they get injured. Lose your starting QB and you’re probably not going win many games. Lose one of those 30 million dollar WR’s and you’re not going to have a great year. Lose your #1 RB, ditto.

IMO, they should get at least a half of work in game 2 of preseason.

Tom Brady used to play in the pre-season. BB didnt care.

He, like most coaches know that practice, and games are 2 different things. And the speed is different, the feel is different, the timing is different. You need to be IN GAME SITUATIONS.

Ill never forget when they were heading to NE i think it was 2019 and the weather was supposed to be rainy and windy.

It was also raining in Frisco.

Garrett moved the team practice indoors to get them OUT OF THE ELEMENTS that they would be playing in.

That is the kind of thinking this team has.

I think it is a bigger problem than not playing in preseason. I am a proponent of playing the starters for at least a quarter or two in preseason, but the Giants didn't look as confused as Dallas. I think the problem is the way they practice. Something is not right there. Remember the old expression, you p lay the way you practice?
