Most other top coaches don't play their starters. The Rams, Seahawks, Patriots, among others, didn't play starters.

So no, it doesn't look like anything.

I agree, dropping a pass right in your hands doesn't depend on the coordinator. WR is one of the most independent positions on the field.

Multiple defensive players missing assignments and not communicating does indicate that they weren't coordinated well. Part of which can be from not enough reps in a new system you aren't familiar with.

None of them have anything to do with the coordinator, they just have to do with focus and discipline.

Barham played in preseason and blew a couple of assignments.

The idea that a quarter of preseason would have changed anything against the Giants is stupid. Idk what to tell you.

I think it is a bigger problem than not playing in preseason. I am a proponent of playing the starters for at least a quarter or two in preseason, but the Giants didn't look as confused as Dallas. I think the problem is the way they practice. Something is not right there. Remember the old expression, you p lay the way you practice?

I heard during both telecasts that Reid and Harbaugh coach their teams hard during TC.

They also practice in pads as much as the CBA will allow.

Well, we see this week. If they button it up and it's night and day difference on defense...then in the future, play more in the preseason.

The Seahawks didn't play starters either lol. Like do we really think that Brock Purdy throwing 6 passes in preseason made that much of a difference? Really? The Titans starters played in preseason and they looked like the worst team in football.

There's no real correlation between playing starters in preseason and winning in week 1. It is an absolutely pointless argument to make.

I think the Giants are better than most people expected. Dart as a mobile QB gives them an added threat, Skattebo runs hard, Nabere is legit if healthy, and Likely is a really good TE. Front 7 on D are good and young, likely to keep improving.

That’s because the Titans are easily one of the three least talented teams in the league.

An all new defense with a first time coordinator should have got some playing time for the defense. No justification for what they did.

OMG I’ve been saying this for years. stop not playing the starters in preseason. going back to last few years of garrett, Jones were like practice is enough, we don’t want them injured. BS they need in game time, so do the coaches on adjustments. If i was the coach id play them 1st Quarter min every game.

Cuts both ways. Injury risk increases with every snap. But scheme competency also increases with every snap.

I think the deciding factor now is that the NFL season is lonnnng, and therefore the W/L column can be more forgiving.

So why risk injury when the season’s schedule may be forgivng enough to learn on the fly?

That said, I’ve always valued preseason simply for conditioning and remembering how to fall down/hit/take hits, etc.
