At what point does the head coach go to the DC to make changes during a game?

assuming this didn’t happen is ridiculous.

To think Brian Schottenheimer wouldn’t take time, whether at halftime, during the week, or in film sessions, to share his thoughts on the last game and the one ahead is unrealistic. But in the middle of a game, there’s simply not enough time. That’s why you have 30 people on the sideline, coaches, trainers, assistants, handling various responsibilities. There’s too much going on to micromanage everything, no matter if you’re the offensive coordinator or not.

All I’m saying is that he has the time during the week, in pregame practices and film rooms, to address what he thinks needs changing or to share his thoughts on other things going forward. But once kickoff happens, it’s impossible for him to be on top of someone all game, that’s why you hire an entire staff.

You are belittling me by asking why they need a head coach misses the point. During the week, in film sessions, and during the game, he’s making the bigger decisions.

People are questioning the early 4th-and-inches call, but I still think it was the right decision.

It was too early in the game to take that kind of risk.

There are moments when taking a gamble like that makes sense or is necessary, and those are the calls he has to make. Everyone’s still upset, but it’s time to focus on the Commanders and see if progress is happening.

He’ll be here through the end of the year, so let’s wait until all 17 games are played and, just like the coaching staff evaluates the players, we can judge him then. If changes are needed, maybe Jerry will make them.

I get your point, but believe me, fans get more hurt than coaches. The same fans that scream and yell at players, coaches, owners etc. Lol..... You think a crew leader of a team picking corn is gonna worry about feelings getting hurt. Time and place. Any coach will welcome input from his boss during a game. Number 1, the boss is now responsible and more importantly, a coordinator gets so caught up in the game, that an outside looking in, with a different view, can be very helpful. Last time I coached was 2 years ago, with a long-time Jets coach as our HC and a Dolphins and Longhorns assistant as our OC. I was DC and they welcomed my heated input as I did theirs. There's no crying in football.....or was that baseball? Lol

None of y'all will all be satisfied I remember when they say they walk around coach is useless jason Garrett doesn't do anything blah blah blah mike Mccarthy shouldn't call the plays He should call the plays no one will ever be on the same page so..whatevs
 
When you have a first-time play caller you're going to, you're going to have some issues. I do expect shoddy to address that with CP all week long in his meetings and game preparation and what they should do better. CP is not going to be a perfect play caller this year. He's never done it. You cannot expect that or you should not expect it. However, I do expect him to work to get better. That's that's all I can ask right now.

Yeah, especially those that talk from a recliner....whatevs, you could have saved yourself about 4 thousand words for another topic.

It would be in Shotty's best interest to dig into any asst's coach's behind DURING a game, if he wants to be here beyond this season or next season.
