What does Ferguson do better than Spann-Ford?

This entire organization is NOT a meritocracy. It is completely centered on a Buddy-Buddy relationship, lol.

Examples - The first and most critical qualification to be a Cowboys front office executive is DNA not actual football qualifications. No accountability- no merit based decision making. Buddy-Buddy.

So…when it comes to players, the number one merit a player must have is a high paying contract. Because that means JJ and SJ have determined they are “stars” and to bench them would indicate a mistake made by guys whose egos can’t accept that. So those type of players are the Jones’ “buddies”.

Even the HC is safe here, not based on merit, but based on how many years are left on their contract. See Dave Campo, Jason Garrett, and even Mike McCarthy, who although is a way better HC than the other guys, should have been fired after that Packer loss. But he had one year left and Jerry is cheap.

Merit based organization? Clearly not in Dallas.
You pretty much nailed it Bob.

I want to make sure this is a merit based team and not just his buddy buddy club

I'm with you. I actually think Spann-Ford should start. He doesn't fumble. He actually plays tough, and I love how physical he is. He kinda reminds me a little bit of Zach Ertz in a way. Nothing flashy, but gets the job done and is a reliable target.

Spann-Ford needs to start taking meanginful snap counts away from Ferg. I'd argue Ferg needs to sit the entire first series on the bench if not an entire half to get the message fumbles will not be tolerated. If he fumbles after that, he can ride the pine because I dont care how good of a receiver you are if you turn the ball over you are no good for this football team

At this point the only thing Spann-Ford does better is putting a hurt on opposing players. He has yet to prove that he's a #1 TE for our team. To see if he is he needs to play more. Maybe there's a reason he doesn't. He could be like Blue or Kelvin Joseph, his playbook could have dust on it.

Yeah,
That was in McCarthy and Garrett's offense.
Even in Seattle when Russell Wilson was throwing for 2 of his 3 highest yardage seasons with Schottenheimer as the coordinator the TEs barely eclipsed 300 yards.
The position has been underutilized wherever he's been!
I honestly want to see some more 3 tight end formations

Do we do that ?

Not sure the point of this.

What buddy buddy club?

Ferguson signed last year...
Stanford was extended this year.
We have two decent TEs, and at current pace whe n fergi contract runs out, we move on to span Ford

Neither is great. Both are good.

Good for dallas

Not much at this point.

Ferg knows where to settle down in the soft parts of under-zones, and he has good hands (although he isn't asked to pull in very difficult throws). But if you want to open up the negatives... man. He's a nonexistant YAC threat. His average depth of target is under five yards. He fumbles at a frequency that would get a running back benched. He gets clowned as a blocker. He's basically old-man Witten, but even slower and with a fumbling problem.

BSF is a great blocker, and his open-field movement is what got him paid above being a 6th offensive lineman. We haven't seen him employed very adventurously in the receiving game (does Schotty even call TEs to run anything besides checkdowns?). But even if he runs nothing but flats and hitches, his blocking and YAC skill alone open up the base offense beyond what Fergy can do.
Don't forget BSF's special teams play. He has laid some lumber on a few return tackles -- very impressive and how you keep a roster spot as a backup

We re-signed exekiel Elliot whom was a total dead body .

We just do goofy stuff

Somewhere in here is a recipe for a title run but I don’t think it’ll be Ferguson Steele javonte and von miller and overshown. It’ll have to be about a 6 level upgrade and retool

Yall can be so fickle. Schotty is fighting for his job every week which is one reason coaches are slow to go full tilt with young talent that isn't drafted high. Ford has surpassed Schoon which is a good sign. He just needs to keep working but Fergy is still the best TE on this roster.
I feel like Ford is better at literally everything but route running.

We signed fergi after we let Schultz walk. At the time this board claimed fergi was better than schultz. There was nobody else and Spanford came later and he was UDFA and unknown. People liked Steven's but he fizzled. We got schoonmaker who sucked even in college..

So fergi was ok, at the time stats were good. He got market value. We paid market value.

There is definite issue with defensive evaluation process. Downs was a gimme. They lucked into brahm. They are 50/50 on the rest.

You’d have to upgrade the talent at corner/s
Pass rusher
Stabilize rt
Figure out qw/kc fit
And find a bread n butter on offense
And don’t give so many touches to Javonte and ferg they aren’t explosive enough , ten total

I’m saying they might want to upgrade on running back slide Javonte to backup and become a run first tight end heavy offense also feature dak runs and tell him to learn how to run not like a goof. That kinda offense would then be super explosive with the deep shots

I agree. I think Spann-Ford is a better all round TE, and, if he starts, I could see him becoming even better.
