TRADED Porter traded to Cowboys (2027/6th round, 2028/2nd round)

Well then.

I actually LIKE this trade IF Porter can play and we resign him long-term to a reasonable (not record setting) contract extension.

Porter is very good and if he can give the pass rush an extra half-second, the result could be HUGE. How many times in the last three weeks have you heard or said that our rushers ALMOST got to the QB, especially EZ. Better coverage COULD turn "ALMOST" into sacks. In turn, when a QB starts thinking about sacks, they rush throws, which result in more INTs and incompletions. This is a good thing for the Cowboys defense.

Now, let's just hope that it all comes together.

He won't be resigned. He's being "borrowed" for a year and it cost a 2nd round pick plus more.
This would be the dumbest move ever. If they think they are a SB contender because of this move, if that’s all they gave up a second for, was a chance to go THIS year….Jerry will need to officially be diagnosed with dementia.

Yes Steelers have idiots in charge.
They just got a very good corner. Who's the idiot?
Jerry and co are the idiots. giving up a 2nd round pick for a guy who hasn't played at all this year and now has to learn a scheme that the current players on the team still are confused on, ain't gonna do much in the short term...

should've prioritized a pass rusher first....which we've needed since micah was traded

What game changing EDGE is on the market for a 2nd round pick?

The answer is none.

Our secondary with Downs and Porter, has potentially two all pro’s for the rest of the decade.
I think the draft capital we gave up is very reasonable, remains to be seen though if a long term contract is.
Just need our DE’s to up their game.

Too funny

I may be out on Khan at this point. Picken and Porter have been our most promising draft picks of late and both get shipped off to the Cowboys in their prime for mid to late 2nds

Lmao took forever for them to draft another good CB since Ike. Now we’re back in the same boat. No WR1 and now no CB1, both traded to the damn cowboys out of all teams lol

We FINALLY get a #1 CB, top 10 no question in the league, and piss him off and then just jettison him mid season...and not only get just a 2nd rounder...but a 2nd rounder in the WRONG YEAR.

What is the deal with you guys sending players to the cowboys? Aren't we supposed to be neighbors?

This is absolutely true but you might have trouble getting people to agree even when advanced metrics show it

The next gen stat that addresses this is
Target Rate per Coverage Snap. This is what shows how often WBs throw into a CBs area.

Porter is top 3 in this metric.

In 2025, his receivers were only targeted 66 times the entire season. That’s less than 5% of all targets.

When QBs did throw at Porter they had a 56.2 qb rating and threw zero TDs

So, not only did they throw less in his direction they actually avoided throwing at him.

Parker may need to let him press a bit more than he does Bland, but Porter is head and shoulders above Bland when it comes to talent and abilty.

All this is actual data based on tech.

Nextgen stats use chips in players shoulder pads and the chips are sending out a pin many times a second and reviewers all through the stadium capture it. Every player, every second, is mapped. The ball is also chipped and tracked. All of this gets crushed by computers to figure exactly where every call goes and who’s in the area. It’s really fascinating technology.
On tape, this guy is really good at playing close. He's usually in the hip pocket of WRs. It appears that Bland's best days are behind him.

Read through the thread and didn't see anyone ask or answer... If he wasn't playing there because he was mad about his money, why is he going to play here?

The biggest reasons for hope on this team now are our recent draft picks like Downs and Barham... So let's give them all away. It would be one thing if Porter were signed for a while, but he isn't.

Great plan for a non-contending team to give away all its draft picks. Just great.

well we mine as well trade our 1st and whatever 2027 draft picks we have left to try and get a pass rushers at this point. Jerry and Son then dont need to leave the Yacht come draft time.

Seems like we are getting players who don't fit Parker's scheme exactly? So I like the player, but apparently Q and Porter arent great fits so im kind of confused

You're right...if only there was a time when we could've addressed it earlier....

like a time before the season starts and before the draft where you don't have to trade for someone, you can just pay them money to come here....

That would be the perfect opportunity to get a game changer...but man guess that doesn't exist huh?
