TRADED Porter traded to Cowboys (2027/6th round, 2028/2nd round)

I guess Jerry figured he might not be around long enough to see a 2028 draft pick develop. So why the heck not? I think we made this trade due to all the injuries in the secondary. Plus , we got to bail our buddies in Pittsburgh out of another sticky holdout situation. So, we get a good player and more people like us now in Pittsburgh. And at the end of the day, isn't the NFL really about making friends and helping others?

Our last 10 years of 2nd round picks:
2026 none
2025 EZ
2024 Kneeland
2023 Schoonmaker
2022 Sam Williams
2021 Kelvin Joseph
2020 Diggs
2019 Trysten Hill
2018 Connor Williams
2017 Awuzie
Jerry is a terrible GM

I'm in the minority, but I like the move.

We needed a good CB. And I'd rather have a good CB now than a mystery box 2nd rounder 2 years from now.

Only frustration is the refusal to go out and get free agents. We never get top end talent the easiest way: signing them without giving up draft capital.

Still need a pass rusher. But this was a big position of need.
If Dallas signed Hendrickson and did this, that would have been much better.

Then again, Guyton neutralized him, so idk.

They were talking about this on G Bag. Saying he was poor in zone coverage. Much better in man. A 2nd in a good draft is a lot to give up.
Play a hybrid scheme JPJ man to man vs WR1 then the rest zone shells, would actually help pass rush and run D.

Holy crap. Jerry's continues to go full Monty Hall with the wheeling and dealing. What a shift in attitude the last couple years.

Pretty good deal, too. A legit CB for a future second, a box of Rice-A-Roni and a tub of Turtle Wax.

Too little too late for this season but it solidifies the foundation we can use to build false hope for next season.

We now have the Steelers 2022 2nd round pick George Pickens, 2023 1st and 2nd round picks: Broderick Jones and Joey Porter Jr.

Probably need to start looking at who they drafted in '24 and '25.
Maybe Jerry is setting us up to hire Tomlin in the offseason ? Just bc he has 3 functioning brain cells left doesn't mean there is no larger plan.

..if he'll have big impact then hellzz yes.

Bland is not what he use to be. Revel is ok.

We need guy with good instincts and skills.

Jerry realizing time is of necessity.

The question is, does his back continue to flare up without a new contract in Dallas??

We weren't one decent CB away from being a playoff team.

Jerry loves the extremes. We sit on our hands for decade, no trades, no major FA signings and now he's done a 180 and seems intent on trading away every top pick we have in the next two drafts.

LOL.

At this point, the only change that "could" make us a legitimate contender is dump the HC. He's not good enough.

Except I don't believe Tomlin and Pickens got along and Broderick was a bust. These moves aren't likely related to Tomlin, plus I can't see Schotty getting fired with 2 years left on his contract.

IF this was part of a plan, then OK

if this was just NGM wanting to make a splash, meh

sad thing is has there ever been any evidence of the Jones boys having a plan?

Yes. I think “needs” are pass rusher and additional linebacker(s). I’m very disappointed that we didn’t add more linebacker talent via the draft.

There were really solid linebacker pieces available when we were on the clock. The Shelton pick really stings because there was legit linebacker and safety help on the board at that spot.
For sure. Pass rusher is a nightmare at the moment, we literally do not have a guy that can close and wrap up a QB lol
