CBS Sports and Tony Romo have mutually agreed to part ways

why not retire and enjoy raising his kids and being with a family?
really
He certainly can but some people just can't do retirement that young.

The other thing is that this may not be the way he wants his career to officially end......on a down note.

God bless him if he can walk away completely though

I know but talking about remembering a while back going into a playoff game, a team had to go get a qb off the street to play in a playoff game.

i thought it was the eagles, but can't remember.

found it, crazy right!!

In August 2019, the Philadelphia Eagles lured the 40-year-old journeyman quarterback out of retirement (where he had already accepted a media job with ESPN) to serve as a veteran backup.

During the NFC Wild Card playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks in January 2020, starter Carson Wentz suffered a concussion early in the first quarter. McCown was thrust into action to make his first career postseason appearance in his 18-year NFL career. To make the performance even more legendary, McCown tore his hamstring completely off the bone during the second quarter but braved through the pain to play the entire second half because the Eagles had no other active quarterbacks. Though the Eagles ultimately lost 17-9, his gritty performance earned immense respect across the league.

Would you like to revisit any other details or stats from that specific Eagles playoff run, or look into where Josh McCown's coaching career has taken him since?
Go Bearkats!

Tony Romo should replace Kirk Herbstreit on Thursday Night Football
Does he still talk over the officials when they're trying to announce their rulings?

Didn't he call Sam Williams a great pass rusher during Thursday night's game?

Yeah, he needs to go.

He could probably do Fox Sports or ESPN in relation to CFB since there are more televised games.

Mutually?

I don’t know if I understand what mutually means. If he didn’t get the DWI would he have quit? O well. I hope he learns from this and I hope we bring him in as a passing game coordinator or something.

We will probably see Tony again on Amazon or Netflix. That’s my bet.
I was just thinking about Netflix football broadcast as well.

Romo still has star power and the broadcast experience would make it a smoother transition vs a new comer that has learn from scratch.

Well damn I didnt realize he was on pills too. Mixing painkillers and booze is a fairly risky thing to do, glad hes still with us.
he was trying to replace the opiods with booze
not taking them at the same time

Not going to take the time to digest every page of this thread, so forgive me if someone's already plumbed this angle...

Some may recall as I do... not all that long after Tony got the CBS gig, he was asked something in this vein and said publicly that he's always seen himself as eventually getting into coaching.

Don't know if this is that moment that he begins to explore that, and certainly don't expect that he will be a serious candidate for any NFL openings this season, but it sure is within the bounds of imagination that there's a "consultant" relationship that could spawn somewhere.
