Schottenheimer needs to go - Regardless of this win

Yea that's the stupid part lol

I don't care who your kicker is - you have to assume that a 65-yarder is a miss. Aubrey wasn't even good from 50+ last year.
If there was almost no time left, yes, try it. But Schotty gave them the ball at midfield with 30 seconds to move closer.

This guy needs to be fired.

I dont care about the win - Great win but one thing I noticed in it was that this offense was poor until DAK started calling his own plays, we saw this with Romo too back when Garrett was calling the plays.

His mistakes at the end of the first half (which shouldn't have occurred because he learned his lesson in Brazil) almost cost this team the game.

If it wasnt for some very weird calls on Houston this team loses in a bad way.

The Cowboys may have beat Houston but Houston also beat Houston - And I am not complaining ill take it, but this guy needs to go.

He will be this teams downfall and he doesnt make them better.
He is here for the duration of his contract
Jerry be dawned to pay for two coaches

Jerry would rather come up short with Garrett 2.0 than win a Super Bowl with a HOF level HC (IE Reid, McVay, Belichick). He doesn't want another person getting most of the credit.
This is exactly it. Jerry was miserable when Bill Parcells was here, but he needed Parcells to re-ignite fan interest to get AT&T Stadium approved. Couldn't do that coming off a 15-33 stretch under Dave Campo.

Attempting a 65-yard field goal at the end of the first half when you are down by 1 score and getting the ball at half is about the dumbest thing a head coach can do. I honestly can't think of a worse decision that could practically happen.
I agree. They're down 13-6, a 1-score deficit. Both the offense and defense have struggled to that point. There is next to nothing to gain by kicking the field goal and significant to lose. It'd be different if it was less than a 50 yard try, but not at 65. You're handing the Texans a makeable FG in today's NFL with a single 1st down - a gimme against this defense up to that point. You're down 2 scores at that point. It was just dumb, dumb, dumb.

I have abandoned the wait and see mode. Actually, I've seen enough - he is not the answer. But he's not going to be fired mid-season. Only way that happens is if he loses the team and that's not likely. But he needs to be gone after the season if they don't at least win the East. That's a pretty low bar given the state of the NFCE. It's basically the AL West of this year.

Schotty stay calling them long developing plays where there are no open receivers underneath. Glad they realize that the second half because Texans defense was playing soft coverage in middle of field.

His situational awareness is terrible. He's been in the league for a few decades now without one head coach offer. Tells me all I need to know. Yet once again, Jerry deciding to hire guys no one else would touch as a head coach and everyone suffers.

Six point swing.

Maybe having Aubrey is a bad thing with this HC.
That's what it is. Having Aubrey AND paying him as much as we do..not having him attempt 60 yarderrs is a "waste" of Jerry's money!'o['; If you know what i mean Once AUbrey got that check...there is not strategy other than..."every kick is in his range"!

It was not a good decision but it’s not the worst decision in history lol

Pretty much.

It's not at an influential time of the game so they got away with it but the logic is as bad as it gets. Outside of unreasonable things, you can't make a worse decision.

Is the clock favorable for a long kick? No.
Are you likely to make the kick? No.
Does the kick change the number of possessions you need to win? No.
Does missing give the other team a significant advantage? Yes.

You basically handed a Houston a touchdown as a tradeoff for making a one-score game...a one-score game. I have no clue how you could ever make a worse decision.

Field goal not a touchdown but yes. All of your points are correct. It was not a good decision
