Schottenheimer needs to go - Regardless of this win

If this was a normally run organization, I'd agree, but he still fits what this FO requires:
1. Puppet coach/Spins everything in ownership's favor/won't ever upstage ownership
2. Cheap/Fully agreed upon contract
Nailed it!

It’s hard for me to fathom how anyone who has essentially been around, played, and coached football their entire life to be so bad at play calling and clock management and have a NFL HC job. The Madden video game ai from the 90s did a better job than some of the clowns Jerry has hired and expected to win a title.
Might be reason why he hasn't ever been a HC before ... just maybe?

This guy needs to be fired.
Good luck with that, because it isn’t going to happen.

He’s going to get a much longer leash than 21 games, especially considering he’s in the process of overhauling the defensive roster. No head coach is perfect, and they’re all going to make mistakes.

The fact is, the Cowboys are 2-2 and could realistically be 4-2 after Tampa Bay and Green Bay. The earliest he could be fired would be after the season, and unless the wheels completely come off, I don’t see that happening either.

And even crazier is that’s exactly why Jerry wants him and wants him to win. That way, Jerry would be held up for his genius in seeing the potential that no one else saw and Jerry can grab any old HC and build a winner, he didn’t need Jimmy. Jerry has been so desperate to prove to the world that he’s genius instead of dumb lucky since Jimmy left that his FO is just a reflection of his search for that validation that will never come.

Attempting a 65-yard field goal at the end of the first half when you are down by 1 score and getting the ball at half is about the dumbest thing a head coach can do. I honestly can't think of a worse decision that could practically happen.
I feel like that was a call down to tell them to continue to try long kicks when possible to make Aubrey's kicks more circus-like and attractive to football newbies or casuals (..even when he already has completed a 65yd kick in his career).

Yea I'm not going to sit here and say that Jerry is making decisions on whether to kick FGs or not.

Not Jerry.
He will not pay a HC to lay on the couch.
He is here for the duration of the contract.
I thought the same thing but shockingly, he fired Eberflus last year with 4 yrs remaining. I don't see it with Schott though or anyone else moving forward.

It would have to be a train wreck ending to this year to have him fired. Players like Dak, CDL, Smith, Williams etc all complaining to Jerry that he has to go level of bad.

Great post.
It usually takes me a mini novel length post to explain this.
Again, great job.

All true, and a great question for those who swear Jerry had any role in personnel whatsoever when Jimmy was here……if he has already done it why the need to spend decades proving you can?

Spoiler: he has never put a team on the field as much as capable of winning multiple playoff games in the same season. What’s it like four WC wins in 30 plus years??

Welp, at least he finally figured out that DT means something, when it’s probably too late. Typical fan/fantasy football player except it’s for real, and we get to go along for the fun ego ride.

I dont care about the win - Great win but one thing I noticed in it was that this offense was poor until DAK started calling his own plays, we saw this with Romo too back when Garrett was calling the plays.

His mistakes at the end of the first half (which shouldn't have occurred because he learned his lesson in Brazil) almost cost this team the game.

If it wasnt for some very weird calls on Houston this team loses in a bad way.

The Cowboys may have beat Houston but Houston also beat Houston - And I am not complaining ill take it, but this guy needs to go.

He will be this teams downfall and he doesnt make them better.
He still had bad calls yesterday, even though we won
What are you doing kicking a field goal just before half,
I guess you have trust in the kicker, but still come on

Agreed. Schotty defended the decision by saying he trusted Aubrey and the defense.

Well the players need to trust the head coach won't put them in impossible positions, too. The Cowboys won and this mistake wasn't as bad as giving up on 3rd and goal in Rio....but Schotty definitely made yesterday's comeback even tougher with that call.

who’s going to pay the remaining two years on his contract?
It doesn’t go against the cap, so who cares, Jerry just can’t have any more Johnny Walker blue, he’s only a zillionaire

Yea that's the stupid part lol

I don't care who your kicker is - you have to assume that a 65-yarder is a miss. Aubrey wasn't even good from 50+ last year.

No-Schott's biggest security blanket is Dak. If he loses Dak's confidence in him, I could see Jerry look for his replacement.
