Dak Top 5. Let's talk argument against it

He's as big a reason as any that we lost today. Quite honestly, I have to say this. Our offense has looked PATHETIC in the first half every game this season for as talented and highly paid as it is. They have looked like a JOKE in a lot of games (except Houston) in the second half until about the 4tg quarter. And before people blame the defence, they gave up 7 in the first half. We were at home. There is no world with this offense and with a kicker who can hit from 65 that we should only score 7 in one half. We should be coming away with at least 3 every drive at home. The fact we couldn't is a problem with our offense.

Plus, I have to point out. This isn't the first time this season Dak's not seen guys wide open. He missed Lamb running all alone against Houston last week. He missed Lamb running a corner that nearly got picked when Dak, with his arm, should have gotten him in stride at the 10. He had Flournoy wide open on the 2 pt plate but he hesitated too long. And I'm sick of him doing that jump pass instead of setting his feet. That's something a rookie would do. It should not be something an 11 year player should be doing.
Well said.

Yes, our D sucked again also, but Dak was bad. And that's not counting the jump ball INTs.

It's suspect when they rank Dak high..... GOT IT.

Despite Allen being bad for half the season. 2 out of 4 games. He was awful against the Chargers, but the Chargers are THIS bad is the reason he's somehow 3-1.

Mahomes and Purdy should be 1 and 2. Beyond that..... everybody has laid a turd. I would've said Dak was solid for all 4 of his first games until tonight, tho. So him being Top 3 was perfectly reasonable to me, until tonight.

Flustered in the opening game? He had 6 possessions. scored TDs on 3 of them, and one of those unsuccessful 6 was Schottenheimer's famous 4th down no-balls decision. Only 2 possessions you can reason the QB had anything to do with..... but really... we're gonna single out 2 possessions?

And you are talking about that one play against the Ravens??
So you admit Dak sucked?

I admit it's hard to have a reasonable conversation with biased people who just wants to point to his 10-12 worst plays of the season.

Are you serious with this kinda nitpicky crap?

I think it's time for @Yobwocs to zip it with all the Dak love......... 16 points against an 0-4 defense?
And i'm gonna keep defending him as long as stupid things are written about him.

And nitpicky crap like pointing to his 10-12 worst plays of the year after 3 straight games of over 30+ points. :lmao2:

How much of an internet jockey do you have to be to have a mindset like that and to release your energy on your keyboards?

I'm sorry but I will take JA any day of the week over Dak. JA might have some questionable turnovers but he has something Dak doesn't: an unbelievable drive/spirit to win. When that dude has the ball, you believe anything is possible.

When Dak has the ball, I have to hope the wind is blowing the right direction, there is no blitz, the receiver aren't being pressed, Dak is having a good day, and even then its 50/50.

Oh I totally see what you're saying. Your personal belief system. Let me have some of that.

You don't pay much attention, do you. You see, if I say Dak didn't play well, you immediately jump in w/ your cut and paste little answer. Never mind that I've never been biased against Dak. That doesn't matter to you, as long as you get to repeat your mantra.

And the irony of it all is that you are doing exactly what you are accusing me of doing, posting w/ extreme bias. Wake up, dude, quit the strawman stuff. When you have to start making stuff up to desperately try to defend your biases, it's time to look into yourself and rethink.

Opening game, giants were inspired with 9/11 patriotism and he had that Deer-caught-in-headlights look where he looks like he doesn't know what to do. Not something you want to see on opening day against what should be an automatic win. But the problem here is the way you rate things is not based on results, but based on whatever the weekly stat is you guys decide to post after a loss. The plain simple fact is you want to win against the teams you should win against. That is the Giants, The Commodes, and the Bucs. We won 1 our of 3 there. And you want to have a quarterback who makes smart decisions in a game where you can get the upset win, like against the Ravens.

Yes, Dak isn't the one who deserves most of the blame around here. That would be Jerry, Then the Coaching, then the defense. Could your Dak is elite threads be shining more spotlight on him, people are going to respond to and let you know what they think? But back to point, where you rank him, and these rankings that been BS this seasons, like NFL.com, don't take into consideration that Dak has contributed to the three losses. Would I rank any quarterback number 3 when they contributed to to all our loses this season? That ranking didn't take that into consideration. Probably like you, bought that Shoddy is only responsible for the throwaway; where you have a lot of people thinking he is taking heat off of Dak, but who knows with the stupid going for 2 move of his. But in that case, Dak shouldn't have listened anyway. Just not smart Quarterback play, and not good under pressure so far this season, and that is #3?

Of course he has his bad plays. Giants, Ravens, Bucs. And yes I agree we should've beaten the Giants and the Bucs. Especially the Bucs.

But if the team was better..... Dak's mistakes and bad plays are covered up. He's had like what?..... 15 bad plays the whole year? it's what everyone wants to talk about..... but he fools the defense way more than he's fooled by them. And we're gonna talk about his 15 bad plays? Who hasn't had 15?

We could be 5-0 if we had... ya know, Kansas City's team, or San Francisco's or Seattle's. But I'm not aiming that high. Let's say a moderate NFL team.... like the Broncos.... and... I think we'd be 4-1 right now, at worst 3-2.

#3 before the Bucs. After the Bucs.... I'd drop him a bit. But I remind you, this is Week 5.

So I am confused. Did he play Ok last night or not?

Since he was comparing Dak's performance w/ bad performances by other QBs, I'd have to conclude that Yobby thinks Dak sucked last night.

You do realize NFL.com had him #2 this week? Your trusted source for years...
I would like for anyone reading this to use critical thinking skills and thorough consideration before responding. NFL.com is the promotional website of the National Football League. It publishes game results and information related to its member franchises' personnel and associated events. Its internal objectivity starts and ends there.

NFL.com does not have a panel of outside sports experts putting together its weekly QB rankings. NFL.com does not have a committee of employed sports experts constructing its weekly QB ranking.

Nick Shook is the weekly QB rankings author. Who is Nick Shook? "Nick Shook has contributed to NFL.com since 2014, writing for Around The NFL, CFB 24/7, Behind the Offensive Line, Greatness on the Road, Oklahoma Drill, Path to the Draft and additional assorted content. He also makes occasional appearances on the Around The NFL Podcast and gets more excited about a pulling guard than a kid on Christmas." (link) Nick Shook describes himself as an, "... NFL.com writer who occasionally appears on your TV. Just a kid from Akron. @KentStateMDJ alumnus. High motor. Gym rat." (link)

Nick Shook tells his readers exactly what his weekly QB rankings are: "As a reminder, this is a season-long, weekly ranking of quarterbacks that will be grouped into tiers. These rankings are fluid, and starters will be in and out of this list just as they are in their own lineups.

Let's check in with
where I see all 32 starting quarterbacks at the start of the 2026 NFL season."

This is an example of Nick Shook's knowledgeable and objective evaluation skills in 2026 so far:

Week 1: Drake Maye (Rank 4) - link
Week 2: Drake Maye (Rank 19) - link
Week 3: Drake Maye (Rank 20) - link
Week 4: Drake Maye (Rank 31) - link
Week 5: Drake Maye (Rank 17) - link

Nick Shook's professional and non-bias insight has elevated Maye 14 slots for Week 5 before Maye has even stepped on the field for Week 5.

Nick Shook is not the NFL. He does not work for an NFL franchise. He does not work for the league. He is an NFL.com independent contractor, who writes content for the site.

Nick Shook is anyone who posts comments on CowboysZone with good grammar. He simply gets paid doing so.

So I'm supposed to go by CowboysZone users? I have not seen a list this week with Dak below the Top 6.

You're telling me CowboysZone users are the trusted source?

I would say offhand that Zoners are better than most, as we watch every game and know a ton more about Dak's play than other sources.

However, what you're doing is simply fighting w/ the Nancy Negatives. You're so caught up in that, you don't even notice when you're conversing w/ someone who isn't one of them.

You read nothing I posted. You are not supposed to go by CowboysZone users just like you are not supposed to go by Nick Shook's assessments. Make up your own mind and trust your own assessment. It does not matter if your assessment is right or wrong.

Trusting what Nick Shook is telling you and all of his readers is not logical. Again, the man is giving you, his reader, his assessment of DRAKE MAYE this week BEFORE HE HAS EVEN PLAYED! Nick Shook will change his assessment immediately after Drake Maye plays this week. That is a strictly wishy-washy evaluation practice. You and anyone else can trust how this self-admitted gym rat with a computer ranks quarterbacks at your own peril.

No different then your personal beliefs on how great Dak is. However, we can let's the stats speak for themselves when they are both retired. JA will go down as the better QB across the board.

And the people that actually watched Dak play and not just saw his stats in a stat book, will know that Dak is a paper champion only. He is a paper QB. He looks good until you actually need a QB to lead you to something substantial and then he is hollow and collapses.

I don't care who's gonna go down as the better QB.

You're not saying anything new I haven't heard before, so to each his own and it's 5:22 here...so have at it if you want. But I know a few things. This franchise is terrible and this team is not good. You keep ignoring those things. It's just amusing to me how you think another QB is gonna come in and save us.

Oh

Well

I guess we all trust something. But I definitely do not trust board members here. That's just me, tho.
