I see no value in the Cowboys drafting OG in 1st round

it is so weird that we are SO GOOD at drafting OL and stink Drafting DL
It’s easy to draft OG’s in the first round. Other teams pass on that position for a reason. Doesn’t do much when building a team. Even in the 90’s the Cowboys OL was not comprised of 1st rounders.

they have been so successful drafting OL in the first rd I guess they keep doing it
and we have only drafted 2 OGs in the first rd. rather stupid comment considering they were like 15 years apart or so

and as regards the 90's oline that was a generational happening of coincidences
stupid to use that as a template; Jethro did for years and could not duplicate

I rest my case. Tyler smith comes back tonight and the offense looks even worse. The offensive line was fine with Bass. The defense is another story. The cowboys way of building a franchise is a joke.
The OL is not fine with Bass, he's a jag, Robinson & Vea would have eaten him alive the same way they did Booker. The OL's problem last night was Booker played like Bass.

Drafting guards high is not a good value. But over the course of a season, the offense will be significantly better with Smith than Bass. Hard to believe someone would try to argue otherwise.

Bass has been over rated by way too many here

Umm….Tyler Smith and Tyler Booker are both OGs and were drafted 3 years apart…

Tyler Smith was drafted as a tackle
keep up why don't you?
No, he wasn’t. Learn your history. He was drafted to be a guard. As was Tyler Booker.

From Google:

Was Tyler Smith drafted to be a tackle or a guard?

Tyler Smith was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round (24th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft with the initial plan to start at left guard
    • Draft Plan: The Cowboys selected him to address an immediate need at left guard following the departure of Connor Williams

Admit when you are wrong and stop being a stubborn jerk.

You said “he was drafted as a tackle”.

In reality, he was drafted to be the starting LG, and the true LT was drafted just 2 years later in Guyton. They have NEVER had any long term plans for Smith as a tackle except for emergencies, no matter what nonsense Jethro spouted.

“Keep up why don’t you”.

the only stubborn jerk around here is you
THE FACT HE STARTED HIS ROOKIE YEAR AS LT SHOULD SINK INTO YOUR DENSE MELON.

I am an ORIGINAL board member and have been here over 22 years.

Do you specialize in being wrong?

Tyler went into training camp as the LG.

Why did he end up playing LT? Because our starter, Tyron Smith, was injured during training camp.Tyler played LT only because it was an emergency.
IT WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL PLAN.

Jethro said differently right off the bat

Please just admit it when you are wrong.

I’ve been here longer than just about everyone (including most Mods) other than Reality. I came from the previous board, and have been here since day 1.

You haven't rested anything when you do the typical cz duck and deflect. Who should we have drafted instead of Booker?
