Cowboys not making it to post season is by design

Gotta disagree. You just made my point but trying to use it to define yours. Jerry hires coaches like these (Remember Garrett?) because he can control them. Jerry believes he can win with any coach/player because Jerry believes with everything that he is, that those Super Bowl wins were all because of him and he will die trying to prove that to the masses.

Stephen is just as arrogant. Nothing will ever change in my lifetime.
There has been no evidence that Stephanie is just as arrogant. Why do you think so?

If this response was directed to me, you totally missed my whole point and wasted alot of time on this response. I never said anything about retreads. My point is yes, there are many on here that (in a round about way) think if we don't make it to the playoffs this year, the world is going to end. What I was saying was why get in a tizzy? Chill out. If Jerry wants us to get to the playoffs like he says he wants us to, you don't hire coaches to learn on the job. Me? I'm not expecting us to do anything this year or even next year (if CP stays on as DC). If we have a winning season this year, great. If we have a losing season this year, great.

Mike McCarthy was our HC for 5 years. What was our record those 5 years? Year 1, losing season (because McCarthy was cleaning up the podunk that Jason Garrett left behind), years 2, 3 and 4, 12-5, Year 5, a losing season because the Joneses decided to get rid of Parsons, Diggs and Lawrence and not doing anything to replace them I liked Dan Quinn and Mike Zimmer. I am of the belief that had Jerry not done this, we could have had yet another winning season. Between this and hiring coaches to learn on the job, this is us not getting anywhere by design. This is in fact on purpose.

To some fans, Post Season and the Superbowl are all that matter. Me? Of course I want us to get to the playoffs and to the Superbowl however, I've lost faith that we will see a Superbowl anytime soon. But I will continue to cheer them on anyways.

I will re-iterate, Given the circumstances, I'm not in any hurry of us getting to the playoffs let alone to the Superbowl. If we have a winning season this year, great. If we have a losing season this year, great. In 2-3 years from now, if we have the same coaching staff, then yes, I'm going to be one of the ones that go into a tizzy if we don't make the playoffs.
Paying the wrong players, releasing the wrong players. Jerry's norm.

If you haven’t noticed, the general tone and feeling here has been that most people wanted Mike McCarthy gone because they didn’t want another coach of that type, they wanted something new. The majority said no retreads, and that’s exactly what was being discussed. I thought Pete Carroll would have been the best choice, but he didn’t work out, and Bill Belichick struggled in his first couple years in North Carolina. Not many coaches from that hiring cycle have done well, and even fewer would have actually come here to coach. Ben Johnson wasn’t available, and neither was Brian Flores,

so I don’t want to hear their names again.

Honestly, no one was seriously voting for Kellen Moore to return. People wanted McCarthy, Moore, and Dan Quinn gone faster than a New York minute, yet now I’m seeing posts saying, “Let’s bring back Dan Quinn.” "Wish we had Moore"

Then there’s talk about hiring a veteran coach, but that’s not what the thread is about. Everyone here agreed, they didn’t want another retread. I'm simply speaking for the majority, that was what was being talked about at the time..

Now that I’ve moved past that point, it’s clear there’s no backtracking. Most people here wanted something new and different, and that’s exactly what we got. I still don’t think it’s a failure, and I don’t want the old crew back either. I’d rather risk failing with guys who are learning, because once they get through the learning curve, they’ll be more creative, better, more adaptable, and closer to a player’s level with less of an age gap.

It’s ironic when a newcomer like Ben Johnson arrives, though he was given everything possible in Chicago, so he doesn’t really count.

Hiring a raw, green coach like Liam Cohen, who’s even less experienced than Brian Schottenheimer, is fine. Yet, people here seem to ride the fence, thinking Jerry made a mistake bringing in fresh faces, even though the whole league does this or hires retreads, it’s about fifty-fifty.

I think the Cowboys should keep doing that, and I like the hire of Brian Schottenheimer. He hasn’t done anything drastically different from any other head coach, and he’s made mistakes, including yesterday, but that’s something you see across the league, constant and steady.

You realize we’re criticizing Brian Schottenheimer for making the same mistakes plenty of other coaches have made here and elsewhere. To be clear, I think he’s getting a raw deal because in his first year he was, in my opinion, very successful, running two-thirds of the team as both head coach and offensive coordinator.

He brought in a bunch of new offensive staff, and I think they’re doing pretty well. It’s not his fault the defense is so bad.

Really, we’re judging him because the roster and the defensive coaches are terrible. If it’s just about analytics, time management, and in-game decisions, I could point to seven or eight other coaches each week across all 32 teams who make the same mistakes and they’ll keep doing it. When you’re coaching in a live game with all the pressure and noise, you have to make split-second decisions and own them. I don’t think he’s directly responsible for any losses in terms of his head coaching duties.

You realize, and I know you might not have read this far, but you should—he’s working for Jerry Jones. The Jones family controls things, and while I wouldn’t say they micromanage anymore, being a head coach here puts you at a disadvantage. Anyone denying that or saying these other coaches wouldn’t face the same disadvantage if they came here or stayed, is wrong.

I saw this in 2020 and 2024 with Mike McCarthy. I think Brian Schottenheimer could be fine long term, don’t know for sure, but in his first season and now five games into the new one, I don’t believe he’s directly responsible for these losses. Most of the issues are on special teams and defense, along with injuries, which are hard to control.

He’s not new to football or to calling an offense, and just because he’s a new head coach doesn’t mean he lacks experience; he’s been around head coaches for a long time, including his father. I think he knows how to coach, and the peanut gallery shouldn’t act like we need to fire him for mistakes other seasoned coaches are making. Even teams coached by guys named Harbaugh haven’t won a game this year.

Yes he's made some mistakes in games I didn't like the back to back kick attempts with the long kicks Before halftime I thought those should have been punts and sure maybe at the end of the Ravens game They wish they had that back but again in a live game., This kind of stuff happens Look around the league just yesterday and last night you seen the same mistakes by better coaches with better players it happens all the time It is not that big a deal I know it hurts as a Cowboys fan you want everything changed all of a sudden five games in and I think we're overreacting..

By the way if you don't want to read my long responses just know this this thread was ridiculous from the beginning it makes no sense and it's not by design and nothing you said is true you're just all up in your feelings and maybe you should start putting your feelings down deeper because when people start thinking of these conspiracy theories it's ridiculous this is not what's going on jerry has never tanked and never will tank and never will design doing something that purposely losing..

It's simple they're going through growing pains right now and they had a bad start to the season but it's not the worst start in the NFL by far It's not higher expectations and failures by far look around the league at some of these teams that had higher hopes than the Cowboys is that by design hell no it's not it's sports..

So you're saying Jerry uses fanspew to make decisions?

So you're saying Jerry uses fanspew to make decisions?
No that's easy he saw the same thing that if it's failing doing it the same way over and over maybe try to do it differently that's what I'm saying jerry does not listen to fans or there'd be freaking curtains up at the damn stadium and he would already step down as the GM so there I stuffed that hard..

I just hit you like Ray Lewis, now move on, you can't win, yeah, you can try but I'm glad that you are still stalking me,

That's cool I know I have a fan base.:muttley::popcorn:

Thinking Jerry Jones listens to fans is ridiculous. The only reason he’s doing more and changing things is because he’s getting older and just as frustrated as the rest of us.
.
Over the past two years, look at the offseasons and mid-year moves, maybe not on Howie Roseman’s level, but he’s done about 50% more than in the previous five seasons combined. He’s simply trying harder, and whether it works or not doesn’t matter, but he’s definitely not listening to fans.

You do realize though you can't deny it feels different all the contracts given out early trying to get ahead of things the trades mid-season trades off season trades the moves cutting popular players he's done more of that in two years and probably 10 years combined even though it's not the all in that fans hoped for which sometimes doesn't work because look at the Rams and look at the Eagles right now they're struggling Not that they won't turn it around but they are struggling as hard as we are right now.

That’s why it’s funny to think otherwise. Apparently, he saw the same thing I’m pointing out here, and if you deny it, we could revisit those old threads, though they’re not welcome here. Now, fans want to bring in a retread, an experienced, old-school coach with a better resume, but that’s exactly what’s been tried before, and it hasn’t worked.

They also find it odd that this is four pages long for such a ridiculous post, as if Jerry Jones would ever tank or this was intentional.

The Cowboys have had a rough start, with three consecutive years of poor defense. They decided to completely overhaul that side of the ball, whether people agree or not, switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4.

Now Brian Schottenheimer is taking all the heat due to a bad defense, subpar special teams, and a limited roster plagued by injuries. It’s ridiculous, this isn’t by design, it’s just the ebb and flow.

Right now, the Cowboys’ stock is down, and they’re going through major growing pains. As much as people don’t want to admit it because the offense looks and feels the same, this is Jerry’s version of a rebuild on the fly, and it may take some time to turn the corner.

No idea, didn't read this mess. Try the adult version next time.

No idea, didn't read this mess. Try the adult version next time.
Actually, not a mess because all you do is criticize grammar and you come at me with like ridiculous statements but it's all hollow it's like eating rice cakes you have nothing to add to an actual football debate and using real facts mine is not a mess it is actual something you could learn from but you won't because we understand your disadvantages.BYE lmao

They're making money on the predictions and gambling markets.

You can't hire real coaches cause they won't just screw the games as necessary. Remember why Brian Flores was out in Miami and is in a lawsuit with the NFL.

There has been no evidence that Stephanie is just as arrogant. Why do you think so?
"All In" He and Jerry spent all off season a few years ago, walking back Jerry being too emotional interview back in early 2024. Sure, he's not going to throw his dad under the bus, but he could have handled that differently other than toeing the company line 100%. However, they bungled their explanation of being "all in" by mishandling Dak and Ceedee's contracts by waiting way too long to get them done. If Jerry is not in 100% control as you've hinted at in the past, Stephen definitely should have handled "all in" better. Also, again, if Jerry isn't 100% in control, Stephen is responsible for player contracts. Dak and Ceedee's were not handled well. This can be interpreted more of not knowing the business more than being arrogant; however, I've been managing/leading people for over 30 years. In my experience they go hand in hand in a lot of cases.
Remember the "air qoutes" qoute? Downplaying the media and fans frustration over our "drought?" He's a nepo boy and I'd bet a lot of money that he's very arrogant.

You were convinced that this team would be different based on what you thought were quality "changes" within the organization. Unfortunately, so far, this is the same ole Dallas Jerry's. The same ole Bufford T Justice and his idiot (and arrogant) son running around trying to catch the bandit. Believe me, I am praying to be proven wrong. I want to be wrong. I want this team to win a SB again. But the business side in me, the side that visits businesses and looks at KPI's, best practices and areas of opportunities, knows deep down that this team is deeply dysfunctional and it's not changing anytime soon.

I think Jerry does want to win. He is getting older. He hears the criticism. I just think he doesn't have what it takes to build a team to win. He got some good players this year and last after he messed up the Parsons deal. But he just does not have the coaching staff to take this team to the playoffs. Parker was overhyped and I am curious what Jerry was told about him. I get it, you want a younger guy to come in and develop into a top notch coach. But that contradicts a win now philosophy. They don't have time to let CP develop. He is at least another year, maybe two away, if he even turns out to be a quality coach.

I will say this. I think this teams is as good as if not better than any of the 12-5 teams Mike McCarthy coached - talentwise. No, I am not advocating bringing back MM. I am saying Schottenheimer is nowhere near as good as MM and he is holding the team back.

Let's face it, we're not going to post season. And it's by design. If Jerry wanted us to get to Post Season (and even better, Superbowl), you don't hire coaches and coordinators to learn on the job. If we win a game here and win a game there, great. If we lost a game here, and lose a game there, great... With the coaching situation as it stands today, I'm not going to let a win or loss effect me. If someone like Eberflush or Nolan was our DC, my post would be something different. I would be calling for their jobs but the Joneses chose to hire Parker to learn on the job, Post Season and Superbowl aren't even close to being on their radar (no matter what kind of BS Jerry tries to spew to try to make us believe that he wants to win).

Parker needs at least a full season to learn on the job. Getting upset about their losses this year is only going to effect you.

Of course I want us to make it to post season. Of course I want us to make it to Superbowl. Of course I want us to win the Superbowl. Of course it's designed for us not to be involved so I just choose not to let things like losses bother me.
It is by design because Jerry Jones wants it this way.

As an uber narcissist convinced of his own genius, at what point does Jerry ever see the error of his ways?
Well, what has to happen is everybody, including the local media, the national media along with all the fanbase has to start laughing at Jerry out loud. It only happened once before, and that's when he ran out and got Parcells. It needs to happen again.

For the most part, I agree with what you're saying. You mentioned "Most people" and "general tone". I (myself) didn't want McCarthy and Zimmer gone but I get it. "Most people" wanted the flavor of the day. And you can see where that has gotten us. Of course, you bring in the flavor of the day to learn on the job, no way can you (not saying you yourself, just in general) expect us to do a complete 180 and all of a sudden be Superbowl bound. There are too many that believe that though. I totally agree we are going through aches and pains. There's nothing wrong with that when you're learning on the job. Look. I'm not blaming Schotty, I'm not blaming Parker. All of this blame is at the very top. We can say what we want until we are blue in the face ut at the end of the day, the very top makes the decisions and you see how those decisions have affected the team.

But typically you don't get fired and let go before the end of the year when you're in your first year especially if you're a completely changing schemes turning over the roster especially on the defensive side and then you have a bunch of injuries you have to take into account all those things and let's see what goes on after Week 18 We can reassess and talk about this later let's put it on a bookmark Because right now I promise you no no changes should be made nor will they be made we need to see the full body of work The law of averages work when you play 17 games let's see them all..

Not ridiculous. I'm not even criticizing grammar, it's just nothing but runons and weird stuff. You don't post anything of value, and don't even care that no one reads it. I can't learn anything from you because your stuff is unreadable. Try the adult thing, but I'm guessing you're not even capable of that.
