Speed should start over Bland

I'd think Bland's inability to keep his feet would be more exposed in the slot.

Yeah i dont think its as simple as moving him there and expecting much of a difference. Inside, outside, whatever...he looks shot.

I never understood the love for Bland. Had an awesome season of picks/touchdowns but has been less than average in coverage otherwise.

Seems like he has lost a step and has no confidence.

I think he has asked to stay outside - the feeling is he can use the boundary to help. Hasn’t worked out well that for sure.

He had TWO seasons.

It allows him to jump routes, play with leverage, and play in more press. He gets exposed vertically when he has to play off man with no leverage - he is so terrible at that I don't know why they ever ask him to.

I can't WAIT to cut the dead weight in the offseason.

If you make Bland a June 1st cut, it saves us 13 million; it sounds like a perfect first-year salary-hit cost for JPJ.

On top of that June 1st cut
Clark would save you 20 million, Gary- 5.6, Fergy -7.

Cutting Hunter and Bell outright would save you 5.8 million total.

So even before we restructure Dak, CD, or Q, we'll be close to having enough to re-sign JPJ, Cobie, Otito, and Pickens.

Watch the tape. He keeps his feet and he’s all over the WR he’s covering and has length.

Will they do it this week? We will see…..

When Durant is back, he and JPJ will start. When we go with 3 CBs, that's when Speed should play, if he can beat out Revel.

I know Bland has the salary, but he has no future here, and he is a liability, so why play him?

Thank you sir. I didn’t see this when I made the OP but I knew my eyes weren’t deceiving me, as I watched a ton of videos on the secondary. I’m shocked at how well he’s played. He needs to be the starter opposite JPJ.

Fine with benching bland as he’s been terrible. I think speed is gonna do much worse with more snaps. Hopefully I’ll be wrong. He’s been on several teams and in the league for a minute and hasn’t put it together.

Doesn’t mean he won’t but not confident he will now with us. He is hungry and is willing and for that alone give him more reps. Bland needs to put off the field much more until he gets his stuff together

We all know the drill by now. All of the underperforming players that have the big contracts will be starting and playing the entire game unless the get hurt. Enjoy them......they are the gift that keeps giving every week.

I don't think we need to completely bench. Bland. But is a lot of his reps need to be taken away, but he's gonna be needed for depth. But whenever. Durant. Comes back. Some of the other guys Thompson lock the the back end starts to get cleaned up. You can use JPJ on the other side and then yes, you can keep pushing in further down the depth chart. Maybe someone stupid enough to give us a 4th rounder for him. I doubt it, but you never know. They seem to be picking up guys like Trayvon Diggs and putting him on the practice squad. Maybe somebody would give this guy a chance and say it's a trash defense and scheme. And we can make him better.
