Prescott and Romo bottomfeeders

No question there are first round busts. But every year you look at who makes the playoffs and who goes thru the playoffs and wins. Playoffs are a pedigree game and there is no way some 4 th round QB is gonna break down a defense with his arm especially when he isn’t natural thrower and has to work on his motion. Sure there are few outliers but in the big picture it’s majority first round pedigree. Dak has been trying for 10 years and hasn’t eeven sniffed an nfc championship. Hes not a bad QB but you put him in a game where the defense is getting pressure that separates him from the good QBs.
If Dak walked onto the Browns, he would most likely be out of a job or still a back up.

When Garrett was in NY, they were fielded the absolute worst run game in the lead. 4 games in, it was being reported Joe Judge, or whatever his name is, took the run game over. This was after firing Columbo.

This is how bad Garrett was as a play-caller. People don’t understand how much time Jerry wasted with this guy.

I mean that’s why Jerry wanted to bring in Dan Reeves to oversee the run game, but the Garrett family connections squashed it.

Dak Prescott has a career regular-season record of 22-25 (.468) against teams that enter the game with a winning record.

Tony Romo had a regular-season record of 19-32 against teams with a winning record (above .500) and an 8-10 record against teams that finished at .500.

So for all of the guys touting how Romo was a much more capable QB, this stat shows the falsehood in that statement. They are pretty much the same QB. Both are known to put up good numbers yet crack in high pressure moments in big games against above average competition.

Just for the sake of comparison

Tom Brady 74–47
Highest number of wins against winning teams in NFL history.

Patrick Mahomes 22–12 (or ~64.7%)
One of the highest win percentages against winning competition in the modern era.

Lamar Jackson 14–4
Strong track record against winning teams, including standout single-season marks.
You're focusing just on the QB, not the team in general. Say what you want about Dak, and I've never been a big fan. But he never had a supporting cast that was a contender. Never. I think Romo had at least two contenders. But so what? Josh Allen has had contenders almost every year and crap the bed. Try getting there sometimes.

No he’s not.

Dak plays too nervous in big moments.

Romo was the same.

The FO and coaches aren’t on the field when the ball is in your hand every offensive play.

This team isn’t winning anything until they take that position seriously.
I'm not sure that's true. I believe Dak can't put the team in position like Romo could.

I'm going to use an easy example....not really out of laziness...but just for clarity.

Romo versus Peyton's Broncos. Romo went toe to toe with Manning...IN DENVER..all game long. Defense let Manning score just about every possession. So what did Romo do? The same.

Right up til the law of averages, and the clock...ran out.

IF you look at the final score and drive...ONLY...you'd say "Look at Romo...choking in big moments AHgain.". But you didn't watch the rest of the game and if it weren't for Romo we'd NEVER be that close to beging with. How many times does he have to "come from behind" in a single game? Ever see Dak battle like that?

I know...everyone has their minds made up by now....12+ years later. I often post this for the HEAVY critics to watch...knowing they never do because it's fantastic...and might abrade the heavy criticism a little bit...can;t have THAT.

But here you go if you have the stomach to see and remember Tony Romo's best:

Wins and Losses are team, not QB numbers. Stop holding onto stupid things because that's how people have done it in the past.

Wut?

Dak has easily had the better supporting casts.

Ahem...2016. For one. Very strong team...but built for a veteran QB.

Yep...like either one or not...pinning wins and losses on the QB over YEARS....

is very ...well...to put it politely is negligent.... and obvious trolling (intentional or not!).

And bringing in a Romo from 12-20 YEARS ago? Cray-cray.
I'm not much for censorship...but I'd vote this is grounds for a benchin'!

Its funny people hold against Romo and Dak that they aren't Mahomes ir Brady.

Like that's your whole shtick. Its absurd

This is an interesting topic and rabbit hole to go down. There’s been talk about how if Dak is not on the team then we’ll be back to the Quincy Carter days. I’ve come to realize we haven’t recovered from the Aikman retirement and we’re still in the post Aikman rebuild. I like Dak and I like Romo but there’s some things I want to throw out.

Quincy Carter only came one win away from the peak of the Romo and Dak years. Carter lead this team to the playoffs and lost in the WC round. Dak and Romo have won a WC game. Hence Dak and Romo only got us one game closer to the success we want than Carter did.

Both Dak and Romo have great end of half and end of game stats but quarters 1-3 they put us in a bad position and have inflated stats to try and pull us out.

Dak and Romo both have quantitative stats showing they did not perform well against higher tier teams and qualitative data to back up the stats, this adding to fan frustration and polarizing both QBs.

Both are limited in their game.

Both have incredible back stories that make them very likable.

My belief is Dak and Romo are not that much better than Carter but are more marketable, likable, and have inflated stats that present themselves as fools gold. Dak and Romo have been good enough for us to not completely rebuild and sell out and get a top tier draft QB prospect but have been enough to keep us hovering around .500 and bad playoff performances.

I don’t think we ever left the Quincy Carter Clint Stoerner “Stone Age” of QBs and franchise futility, we just have a guys that we like better than the immediate guys that played QB after #8 retired.
Cowboys had the #1 defense the year we made the playoffs with Quincy.

Quincy tossed 17 touchdowns and TWENTY ONE interceptions that year.

Totally the same thing as what Dak and Romo experienced!

100% Truth

Guys like that will only take you so far.

But I will say Tony would have taken some of Dak’s teams further. I don’t doubt that.
