Above is a side-by-side comparison of all five Dallas opponents' offensive combined possessions and the Cowboys' total possessions. The left side is a side-by-side of possessions broken down into how many plays made up each drive. For example, opponents have combined for 10 drives that were only three plays long, while Dallas has only had six drives of the same number of plays.

The right side is a side-by-side comparison of how drives ended and their result. For example, opponents' offensive have been forced to punt 13 times, while Dallas has been force to punt 10 times.

The up and down arrows represent whether opponents' offenses or Dallas' offense had a higher or lower percentage for in the category.

This confirms what we already know.. The offense is not good enough to overcome how bad the defense is.
It also confirms what some may not have yet realized. This high-octane offense is not as productive by comparison to the opponent's offenses Dallas has played thus far.

Opponents' offenses play Dallas' defense. The results are apparent. Dallas' offense practices against its own defense, but it plays against other teams' defenses.

The offense is playing better defenses. No question. The offense is not so potent that it can produce better results when it is on the field. For example, as bad as Dallas' defense is, it has still forced all opponents into kicking eight field goals. Vice versa? Dallas has kicked one more field goal.

A supposed 'Greatest Offense There Is' may not be good enough to reverse final scores, but it should have been more than good enough to convert a minimum of one or two of those field goals into touchdowns. Otherwise, that self-applied moniker is not accurate and cannot be laid at the feet of the defense standing on the sidelines, watching Brandon Aubrey line up for the attempt.

This offense needs to look itself in the mirror, if they all played liked they gave a damn every drive we would have something. They could mask a lot of the defensive problems but they just aren’t that great.

Its potential is there, but its misfires have been pretty evident. Opposing defenses have played their part, but the shooting itself in the foot episodes during drives are not signs of a perpetually well-oiled machine.

Dallas TD % is 36%. The league average is 21%. The offense has been phenomenal. It’s simply that the defense has been very nearly as horrendous as the offense is good. This season is very simple to diagnose. Offense has been stellar. Defense has been horrendous. All our efforts should be on the defensive side of the ball.

Like its performance at home inside the friendly confines of AT&T Stadium against the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense?
Right. You can't just sweep aside the fact that after that opening drive, the defense locked down and gave the ball back to the offense 4 times in the 2nd qtr. The offense, with 4 possessions, managed 3 points and only took about 6 minutes total off the clock. One drive took about 30 seconds off the clock.

GOTI it ain't

Name me an offense that hasn’t had a bad display. You look at the body of work and judge on that, not cherry pick a few games or data points.

It would be as productive, it would be more equal, if our defense was better,
Just makes me think, if both our opponent and ourselves had the same exact defense, who would actually have the better offense

That is a nice counter. However, this is the 2026 season. This offense did not look stellar versus the Tampa Bay defense.

One more:

The defense hasn't just been bad, it has been god awful.

Any argument otherwise is flat out insanity.

Per the graphic's Shootout Teams:

4-1 Buffalo Bills
3-2 Detroit Lions
3-2 New England Patriots
2-2 Carolina Panthers
2-3 Dallas Cowboys

That quadrant is really telling. Kinda stokes my curiosity of their and their opponents' offensive drives and results.

Will any future posted tweets not reflect how the offense has performed, without including the defense's ineptitude, as these do? I mean, is the defense responsible for how the offense capitalizes on its possession opportunities when it is on the field? That is what this thread is about.

Should Quinnen Williams need to line up at wide receiver too? I have no idea, but I am sure his hands are more brick than Jake Ferguson's right now.
