Because his teammates are close to him and he likes to take care of his employees. The only people that are getting upset are not hurt by it. Those who are/were harmed support Jones decision.
I get that this is the age of writing things off and giving up at least on the interwebs but not all are like that.

To err is human. To forgive is divine.

If Dallas had a good player to play the 1-technique, Brent would have been gone a LONG time ago.

Don't kid yourself.

That's an interesting question. At one point, I'd have agreed. Now, the teams acting like its a personal commitment here. I think they might be sticking by him to get him help, regardless.

The chance that he is going to play DT for them either this season or next is about nil. Seeing that, it no longer makes sense that is their motivation.

that means if the patriots were ran correctly, they would keep hernandez until the very end.

Hernandez is an alleged murderer with malicious intent and no regret as evidenced by his cleanup. Why don't you compare him to Rae Carruth while you are at it?

This is were you're wrong. Brent knowingly getting into a car while you're drunk and speeding on top of it? This is a fact. Hernandez being a murderer is hardly proven yet. On top of that, Brent failed a court required drug test. The guy shows no motive to turn his life around.

Regardless if it's murder, aggravated manslaughter, intoxicated manslaughter, etc. the crime still brings a negative light upon the organization. You think the pats released Aaron because they immediately thought he was guilty and would never play again? wrong. They released him because it's BAD PRESS for the team. Jerry won't release Brent, even if it sends a terrible message to the other players and makes the franchise look spineless

You are conflating murder and Brown's death via Brent's drunk driving. You should try more zig with your zag on your next dodge.

No motive to turn his life around? You clearly have no experience with addicts.

And neither of us have any idea why the Pats did what they did. We have no wya of knowing. Perhaps instead of filling in the gaps with your bias perhaps you could just not make claims that have no basis.

That second paragraph is nice on story time and short on verifiable information. Is that what you normally do? Create these little narratives so you can pretend that you know what really went on or why what went on happened?

And 'bad press?' He isn't trying to sell a mutual fund. It's the entertainment industry. You clearly have no experience in marketing either. It's going to have such a huge impact that I bet we still see every game sell out and see us have the majority of the top 10 rated games next season.

:lol bad press. that's rich. If the worst that Jerry has to deal with is your type gesticulating then I think he will be okay with it. You going to take taht outrage and not watch Cowboys games?

Didn't think so. You'll just be mad while you are doing it. I don't think him cutting Brent would make a difference one way or another on that score.

I have plenty of experience with being around addicts. This is the same stuff you pull on a consistent basis. Making absurd notions about someones personal life without actually knowing anything about them.

Addicted to pot? It is extremely rare when someone is addicted to Pot enough that they would violate a court ordered drug test after killing their friend. I could understand opiates or something along those lines but not marijuana...and it was his second violating the court order.

The Pats specifically came out and said they released Hernandez before they knew anything about the charges placed against him. Robert Kraft said he was expecting obstruction of justice. So I'm assuming, along with alot of other people with common sense, that they released him to avoid negative media attention.

Haha no experience in marketing..do you even understand how the NFL got to be as big as it is today? Marketing...why is jerry such a great owner...because he knows how to promote and market the Cowboys.

I suspect you are looking for an argument rather than honestly trying to answer my original question.

Not sure why anyone cares. Doesn't really affect what the team does on the football field. Brent is not going to play. If a simple gesture of keeping him on the team helps him, then who I am to judge as what the team does with Brent has no affect on me or my enjoyment when watching the Cowboys on the field.

Cool story. Its incredibly ignorant fantasy land that has no basis other than to confirm your conclusion but cool story.

You still think conflating Hernandez and Brent is valid. Hernandez is up against life in prison and in Texas he would be up against the needle. Brent is in Texas and eligible for probation.

The Pats released Hernandez 90 minutes after he was arrested. That was over a week after the shooting and to say they had no idea of the of the charges is ignorant.

But all in all your post was chock full of cool stories.

Thanks!

Pot is the exact type of drug someone would use to deal with anxiety and stress. Maybe he can't sleep because he caused the death of a close friend or maybe he is just a natural born loser and can't do anything right, I don't know. Obviously Brent has made several poor decisions and if he was cut I wouldn't be surprised or outraged. Just like I'm not surprised or outraged that he is still technically on the team. I don't think it speaks to the quality or character of ownership either way. NFL teams are still a business where the players are considered assets, but they are also considered family.

Brent wasn't even a starter and they had plenty of chances to draft an inside DL and passed on all of them. He is not part of their short term plans.

So being arrested proves your guilty? From the 90 minutes between Hernandez being arrested and him being release, you think the Patriots knew he was guilty? Of course you do! why else would he be released right?

Do you know what a "precedent" is? I understand you are a marketing genius but with common sense, you are not.

Keeping Brent sets a bad precedent. It sends a message to the players that they can screw up royally multiple times, with no consequences.

This has a negative effect on the morale, and weakens the leadership within an organization...do you agree that holding players accountable for their actions is necessary?

You ignore my contention about false equivalence.

You tell me that I have no way of knowing whether or not he was guilty and with the same brain think you can tell me how the morale within the organization or the or how leadership is taken within the organization.

I did some digging concerning Hernandez case. Let's take a look at what we know and thus we know what the police know and then compare and contrast what you know about the players, front office and morale of the Dallas Cowboys.

1) Hernandez was seen on a security video the night of the shooting carrying a glock .45, the weapon used in the shooting.
2) Hernandez has been seen in other locations with said weapon and the police found a magazine and ammunition for the weapon at his home.
3) Hernandez 'cleaned' his home. IOW, made an effort to remove evidence of the crime.
4) He told his girlfriend not to cooperate with police.
5) Two days before the murder, Hernandez and the victim got into a confrontation at a Boston nightclub.
6) A Nissan Altima was seen leaving the location of the murder and Hernandez rented a Nissan Altima in that time frame.

So on this basis I can understand why the Patriots would think that he had perpetrated a capital crime. Now how about you tell me how the FO's approach to Brent had "a negative effect on the morale, and weaken(ed) the leadership within an organization."

Please be specific.
