Is there anyone on this defense that wows you anymore?

Well i'll say I didn't like the Kiffin signing but after I saw how many turnovers we were generating I was impressed. But after the past two weeks.......hard to be optimistic about this.
 
Barry Church right now is the only one in defense that shows wow. It seems this guy has a knack for causing a fumble. It's crazy but I'm glad he is out there. Really he's played what 7 games as a starter? He's pretty solid safety out there

Yeah, and Eli has continued to do against others as well. Seems maybe we just caught Eli in a rut.

He tackles great, and plays fast to the ball. He could still be working on his coverage, though.

but when he's called out as our defensive "wow" factor...

That's what I meant. Glad you're picking up what I am laying down. He's a solid player and I like his upside but, he's not a WOW. We need more game changers on defense.

i liked church last year. i like him now. last year were fools for giving him $$$ when hurt.

people said a lot of things 3 weeks ago. as i mix posts. :)

but if you look at our entire D and he's who you call out, that speaks volumes of the work we have to do on D.

if 51 points didn't do it already.

Let's hope. Seeing it is all we have anymore with the franchise. A lot of finger crossing and false hope.
 
Church and Lee look solid. Carr seems to be earning his money playing some solid football even when he allows a catch he's not backing down. The issue is that nobody on the Dline stands out..That's a huge problem. Until then nobody on the back end is going to be given a fair shake at getting any recognition.

What happened to Selvie? Dude hit a wall? It does anyone think his concussion is hurting him? Hatch just disappears.

That's a fair argument. They seem to play a lot better when the front four are doing what they're supposed to be doing. Getting pressure. Even if it's not a sack, at least let the QB feel your presence. We were good with the Rams at this but, just sub par otherwise.

They're all inconsistent. All of them. We need more depth. Truth is, they were much better as spell players and not full on starters. You need a one two punch for situational defense. Speed guys on plays you think they'll pass and mean boys who can push the tackles back 5 yards during a run. Seattle is a fine example of such usage.
 
I think the secondary is falling victim to the DL. Just like Doug Free fell victim to having to play G and RT simultaneously. Lol Maybe, if the front 4 do what they're supposed to, the secondary won't have to spend 60 seconds chasing a receiver all over the field.

Wilbur is just a waste period. I had hopes he would provide something as a situational pass rusher but the dude is terrible. I'm hoping that the light comes on for Nevis and Rayford even tho he got beat on that wheel route the dude showed some wheels for a man his size. Hope he can provide something. Can't believe how the injury bug just took it to this unit.

I agree 100% - especially in the last 2 games with the quick releases and up-front pressure issues we were having
