No, this was different, IMO. I think Peyton Manning knew he was going to be in a shootout, looked at the films and saw how good Romo can play, and pulled out all of the stops. Plus, he was playing against a defense with scads of injuries that had what was left of the healthy starters in the fifth week of a brand new defense. It created a perfect storm that we just couldn't stop.

Sean Lee for me is the only remotely consistent player with his own faults nevertheless. Everyone else is overpaid, just okay or have one foot out the door with injuries and age. Where do you start with the draft? I think D Line. If you're going to run a 4 man front, you've to get pressure. You can only expect a secondary to smother receivers with accurate QB's in a pass heavy league for so long. Pressure, pressure, pressure.

Good question! The answer is: No, no one on this defense excites me. There are some very good players on this defense but none of them, not even Ware, can be considered difference-makers.

Hatcher has a little wow in him at times. But for the most part, no.

As much as most people disliked Spencer, I think we miss him a lot.

Through 5 games, PFF has Church with a 115.8 QB rating when QBs throw against him (17 attempts, 13 completions, 1 TD allowed, 0 Interceptions, 1 Passes Defensed).

I will agree with you on this -- in the run game and in tackling in general, Church pops off the screen with his physicality and sure handed ability to bring down ball carriers (RBs, TEs, WRs etc).

Lee has been his usual self against the run, however, against the pass he has been horrendous.

His PFF QB rating against is an astounding 130.7 (Targeted 23 times, 20 Completions for 233 yards, Allowed 4 TDs, and has 1 interception).

If you project that out, Lee is on pace to allow 745 passing yards and 13 TDs all by himself!

Am i coach on the team? I cant answer those questions for you. Im a fan that saw him getting beat at will. That changed in the 2nd half. Thats all i know. Im sure you can come up with a conclusion. For me i dont care why and what. I just care about the player improving. And that did after a 20 min break. Its kinda amazing if you ask me. 1st half the best QB of his generation is eating him alive. The 2nd half that same QB wont even throw at you anymore.

Yeah, I will jump on the Claiborne bandwagon too. The coaches seemed to change their approach, letting him get up into the receivers faces. Yeah he still got beat, but he looked far more confident and comfortable. I look for the coaches to use this approach with all our CB's from here out. I expect much more Cover-2-man with press on the outside.
