He has. My top 5 of all time bad JJ decisions wouldn't include any player deals.

1. Treating Tom Landry and Tex Schram like crap.

2 Firing Jimmy Johnson

3. Hiring Barry Switzer

4 Not making Parcells GM

5. Letting Sean Peyton get away.

That's pretty much got it corralled although you could put the Roy Williams at 5.

Aside from not trying harder to keep Jimmy Johnson around, I'd say Jerry's biggest mistakes were mostly personnel-related. Trading for Roy Williams, trading for Joey Galloway, not drafting Randy Moss, etc.

I can't help but feel Parcells as GM and Payton as HC would have been a lethal combination, and we wouldn't have so many bad personnel decisions.

I never blamed them for not drafting Moss, with the off-field trouble they were having at the time.

It's about the answer I would think you'd expect a person to make in that situation. It always cracks me up that people seem so offended or upset when people answer like this as if they actually expected them to say something different.

There are many smarter answers and more importantly, smarter decisions he could have made.

A reporter asked Jerry about the extension Jerry signed Rat to and his reply:

"If I had a legal pad and could show you all the decisions I've made ever, it's not the worst decision I made. "

No Jerry, it is not but in the top 10 for sure.

You know he only guaranteed part of the contract. It wasn't unreasonable to expect him to play off the guaranteed part of the contract. Are you saying you knew Ratliff would get hurt a few months later and never come back? Pretty much all vets miss time but him having a dispute with the medical staff and never coming back can't hardly be blamed on Jerry Jones.

Mr. Slough, I presume?

I'm just sayin I don't think it was that crazy to expect Ratliff to play off the guaranteed part of the contract. Media throws this stuff out there as another Jones blunder and people eat it up without really thinkin about it. No one expected Ratliff to be healthy for the next 3 years but who could predict he would have a dispute with the medical staff and still not be able to pass a conditioning test 11 months later? How is Jerry Jones supposed to predict that?

And 8m of the 18m guaranteed in 2011 were his base salaries for 2011 and 2012. If you count the 4m pro-rated portion of the remaining 10m signing bonus that counted in 2011 and 2012, that means there was only 6m left to account for over the last 5 years(2013-2017). That sounds like a great deal for a perennial Pro Bowler. It sucks he got hurt, but his potential and impact on the DL far outweighed any risk.

That isn't relevant. They're just easier to look up.

lol. Ok. I'm not sure how that's not relevant but none the less. Comparing an aging DT to guys who were Hall of Famers, and thus likely did defy age and the general decline of players at that position after certain ages, absolutely is relevant. But to each their own.

Decisions yes. With that particular question you're either going to answer like he did or you're going to answer in a way where you admit your screw up/dog yourself. People waiting around for others, especially rich/famous/successful people to admit they screwed up or to dog themselves are either excedingly niave or just flat out stupid.

You win some....you lose some. Rat we lost that one. ....but you win some and the Waters signing more than makes up for the loss of Rattliff, knock on wood he is playing at a high level. His presence has improved the quality of play all along the Oline.

People expecting anyone to answer that question differently then what he did. Unless they were hoping for a no comment as his response because it's about the only other answer you'd ever get.

Well to be fair I did say they could also just be niave. So it's one or the other.

Yeah, you did manage to say both of those things. Problem is, important people do admit that they screw up, I hear CEO's do it all the time in quarterly meetings. People aren't stupid for anticipating candid responses some of the time.

No, people understanding what Jerry's spending idiocy is doing to the team's ability to sign key free agents.

Despite his senility, I'm sure Jerry blowing 18 million lurks more on his mind than any of ours...

Yeah I'm sure they do in situations like that but I'm betting you don't see to many owners or GM's admiting to it when it comes to sports. I could be wrong. Maybe I've missed all the interviews where they're out there admiting their mistakes or calling themselves bafoons for their mishaps. I admit that I don't watch or listen to every single interview by owners and GM's in sports, Heck HC for that matter.

So maybe Jerry is the only one who doesn't admit it. I'm going to doubt that very seriously.

I'd like to ask any of the Ratliff supporters to come forward and admit they were completely wrong about him.

Many of us advocated getting rid of him a while ago and were vilified for it.

This is a disgusting situation and the schemes of both he and his agent regarding his physical condition and availability are even more insulting.

There couldn't be a worse situation and I very much hope that the Cowboys are pursuing legal action against this con artist to recoup some of the money he has outright stolen.

And again to those that defended him, hang your head.
