So what route combinations and protection schemes did the Cowboys use? Can you identify what plays the Cowboys had in their gameplan? In what situations were they used and what do you feel would have been better options? When Romo checked out of plays what keys was he looking to and what plays were run as a result? What play calls do you think they checked out of?

If you do not have an understanding on that level then you are looking at how the game was called in a pretty dumbed down way. "They should run the ball more DERP DERP DERP!" And the 'predicable' label when people really don't even know what they are looking at is just laughable.

So I see your still complaining about Romo in an easy win with his two pics. Guess his needing a perfect game in order to win prediction you made didn't come to fruition.

It was a road win over a division opponent, be happy for christ's sake.

That they made the Eagles look like clowns on their home field is a bonus.

We actually ran the ball more than unusual. We just weren't very successful at it. Randle wasn't too bad, though.

Um you don;t take deep shots on 2nd down. You do that on 1st down because you have 2 downs left so you can afford to take a shot down field

That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. I'm talking about 2nd and short, not 2nd and 10. I'd live for those 2nd and short situations precisely so I could go downfield with confidence that I can pick up the needed yards on 3rd down.

Well, in Madden it might work, because I swear that is what some posters think how football works.

That's silly logic. You catch the defense off guard on 2nd and 2 with a deep pass. Then if you miss it you run it on 3rd down and get the 2 yards. That simple.

This is correct. Although, I don't think it really catches the defense off-guard, because they ought to expect you to throw it on 2nd and 2, for the exact reason you mention.
The offensive play-calling is fine. We put up a lot of points. People just like to second-guess the calls that don't work, no matter *what* the results are. It's a simple as that, and can be disregarded, really, when the offense is productive.

Why are you vetching about a win by the Cowboys? Grow up for once! The Cowboys won and all you want to do is complain?

Pathetic

I'm happy, we got the win but I just wanted to note that I hope we don't continue to throw bombs on 2nd and 2

Now the Cowboys did run that OT play a whole lot. They got yardage out of it in the first half but in the second half they stuck with it even after the Eagles stopped it for minimal gains 3 times. I was sure they were setting the Eagles up and sure enough they PA out of it for a nice gain.

I was very pleased with how the offense came out in the second half and started marching down the field and getting first downs. They started running Bryant out of the slot and he found room. That is one thing I like about Garrett's teams the players improve as the season progresses.

Now the pass protection was spotty and I really don't think Tanner or Randle have good awareness. They stunted an end inside one play and Tanner stayed on the edge while Leary had to block two people. Tanner had no clue.

One thing they did do is get Randle involved in the passing game which was nice to see. College skills translating to the pro game is a good sign. 3 catches at 9 yards a pop out of the backfield helps a lot.

i also prefer a 2 yd pass on 3rd and 1 instead of a run up the middle. But we got the win and on to next week

And another thing: OP you don't get to include me in your 'we all.' I don't group with this sort of analysis.

I assumed he had a mouse in his pocket when he was posting that.

I liked that call, too.
