Once upon a time Romo didn't care about perception. But since historically the media would have a field day pointing out what otherwise would be meaningless stats to support an agenda. Garrett and Romo have to go out of their way to counter the general negative perception.

Agreed

Yesterday made it apparent how many of these "Analysts" are really only watching one game on Sunday and are only looking at the stats for the rest of their analysis.

Example: "Romo had a sub par day and turned the ball over, he will do that"-Darren Sharper

Someone who watched the game knows that the first INT was a hail mary that Dez probably knows he would catch 7 out of 10 times. The second INT Tanner ran his defender into the throwing lane and beasley was wide open if he didn't do that.

He needs to catch that more than 7/10. That should be a gimme for a receiver of his caliber.

I'm glad that someone brought up Romo's first int, that jump ball lob into the end zone, right before the half, that didn't have any affect on the result, is proof that Jerry is an idiot and overpaid Tony. I've just been dying to get that off my chest. Thanks OP.

Tanner ran the wrong route, but I still feel like Romo has some accountability for that throw. Romo and Manning both suffer from the same issue in their game in my opinion; they read defense and expect the team to see the field the same way, but they seldom account for their own teammates' deficiencies or even defensive deficiencies.

Sometimes you have to read what is going on just as much as you have to read the pre-snap. Yes, Tanner ran the wrong route and pulled a defender in, but Romo needs to be responsible for not having tunnel vision and relying solely on pre-snap.

Romo has to get rid of the ball on time he has to expect his WR to be where they need to be. If you sit there waiting then you get sacked. What is he suppose to do check to see how guys are running routs before he throws it? lol

I'm not saying the read was wrong. It was absolutely the right read, and Tanner 100% ran the guy into the throwing lane. Credit to Ryans for making the play as well. But it isn't impossible to expect a great QB to see more of the field than just his read, either.

In the end it wasn't a big deal, and the stats don't tell the story of this game anyway. I'm just saying that the one thing I've always had an issue with on ROmo is his reliance on the read as opposed to the play. Sometimes he relies on the chess move a little more than I would prefer.

A perfect qb would have held up on the throw when he saw tanner coming. However, sometimes the bear eats you. I'll take the Hail Mary int twice a game if the situation calls for it. Literally a no risk chance at points, who cares what the stats say- Romo on his last contract.

IMO Romo has been a top 3 qb this year and I don't think he's started his decline

The pick to Ryans was Romo's first bad INT all season. Not bad given we are 7 games into the season.

The Hail Mary at the half was nearly caught by Dez. In fact, watching the replay, I'm not sure how he didn't catch it.

There are no perfect QBs, and that INT has been thrown by Rogers, Brees, Manning, Brady, etc. I'm not demanding that Romo holds up and doesn't make that throw, I'm just saying that I don't think he is 100% the victim either. Comes with playing the game.

OMG, Romo had plenty of time to adjust and hit Tanner, but like MANY throws yesterday Romo threw it behind him. Good Lord, even Troy said more than once Tony was off. Check out the throw right before the first field goal. His throws have been off the mark for 2 weeks now.

Romo has only 6 turnovers in 7 games. 5 ints and one fumble. That's awesome, especially since he is still throwing TD passes and getting lots of completions and yards.

So I don't care much about assigning fault on every one, the fact is Romo has been great this year with the ball.

This just shows how little you know about the play or what happened. The throw was to Beasley (not to Tanner). Keep at it though.

Agree with this 100%. I said it earlier in the season, I actually wish he had thrown another INT or two at certain points! I don't want a conservative Romo, I want a playmaking Romo.

He was never throwing the ball to Tanner.
He was throwing to Beasley who was open for a 1st down

Teams draw up plays with specific things in mind.
Tanner's job was very basic.
a) Run to flat to draw coverage there.

Payton would have had Tanner cut after the game for that.
It isn't like you can stare down the guy you are throwing to.
You have to trust them and the coverage.
The defense did what Dallas wanted. Ryans was going with Tanner. Had Tanner run tot he right spot that's an easy 1st down.

Blaming Romo shows a lack of football IQ.

Great QB expect their WR to be where they should be they can't wait on them the play must be ran a certain way especially on a 3 step drop where the QB knows he has to get rid of the ball. If it is a deeper rout with a 5 or 7 step drop then maybe you can buy some time should a WR fall or not be where he needs to be and Romo has done that. He does more with busted plays than most but in this situation on a 3 step drop the ball has to be out of his hands or else he takes the sack

I'd rather he take the sack.

If he had a cyrstal ball I'm sure he would to but on a 3 step drop the play is pretty much a bang bang play he has to get the ball out of there and these other paid professional need to be where they need to be that is part of the game. This is not backyard football
