Jerry Jones to make more sideline trips?

I like Mark Cuban from a distance. I'm not that big a fan of the Rockets owner, but I wouldn't want him doing the over the top stuff that Cuban has done. The one thing he always going for him is that he loves his team.

Off topic but since you live in Houston. My dad told me they had a nice memorial service in H town for Bum.

My dad was never an Oiler fan but he sure liked Bum. I'm glad they honored him there.

From my point of view, I see it as undermining the head coach's authority.

I think the change during the Parcells era clearly showed that Big Bill felt exactly the same way.

And as I recall, Jimmy wasn't particularly find of the practice either.

Strong head coach with skins on the wall? No visits.

Otherwise? Jerry does as he pleases.

And the results follow.

Again, that's how I see it, but facts seem to back it up.
FWIW, we're not going to agree on this, ya know. lol

But unless he's standing right next to Jason and intercepting plays through a headset, he's just one of 500 other people standing on the sidelines to me.

As for the measure of success, I don't really consider the Parcells era as one. It had it's moments, but I don't think the banishment of Jerry from sidelines affected what turned out to be a .500 tenure one way or another.

Jimmy had the skins and the roster, so obviously he was successful. Not sure Jerry's presence was anything more than elderly cheerleader even back then.

Yeah, I heard the same. I was listening to the news when they were talking about it.

Jerry's been meddling unincumbered for decades . . . he's on a roll -- why stop now? -- LOL.

Arthur Blank is always on the sidelines at Falcons games...

Never heard a single Falcon Fan complain....know why? Because nobody cares because it doesn't matter

We got a stupid fan base

Arthur Blank is a passive owner who hired a real GM, Jerry Jones, is a vainglorious underminer of coaching authority. Big difference.

I find all the "stupid fan base" demagoguery really hilarious. 99% of the posters that use this weak circumvention of the personal attack rule (you are really saying that the poster(s) that you are replying to are stupid without getting caught) are invariably defending a failed front office that has wheeled out more mediocrity than any other for almost two decades.

You're right, we aren't going to agree.

Kind of interesting.

Can any of you envision a scenario where Jones literally overrules Garrett, especially if it gets to a clock management situation at the end of the game?

What would have happened if he'd been on the sidelines during Sunday's fiasco? Would he have entered the fracas with Dez and Witten? Would he have tried to get in the conversation with Garrett and Romo?

I've said before that Jerry Jones probably gets 4-5% (conservative estimate) crazier per year, would you put it outside of the realm of extreme possibility that he would actively interfere in a game at some point in the coming years?

Nicely said. Especially the use of the word "demagoguery". I had to google that puppy.
I think many, I said MANY not ALL, of the people that defend Jerry Jones on this....just defend the Cowboys organization entirely. They dont want any part of their baby to be called ugly. So it hardly matters what the issue is, if people suggest a negative about this organization, there will be a group of fans defending that perceived negative.

I guess it's the equivalent of somebody doing their job & their boss standing there looking over their shoulder.

Some it bothers. Some not.

I personally, as a female, don't like seeing Jerry's ugly mug period.

What's really depressing about all of this ... we are approaching 2 decades of stink. That's tough.

I'd try anything at this point. I used to hate this. But this pressure for our coaches doesn't sound so bad now.

I agree, but what can we do? The team is Jerry's hobby. We all have hobbies and we like to enjoy them and immerse ourselves in them. Thats what Jerry does. He loves his hobby.
